I know this may sound strange, but I really wanted to share this in hopes that I'm not alone. I seem to be having very vivid and terrifying sleep hallucinations. The first time I ever had one (that I know of) was either late last year or sometime this year...I cannot remember when, but it was like nothing I've ever experienced. I woke up to (well at least I thought I was awake, but who knows) to find what appeared to be an enormous, dark, spider dangling over my head. I immediately freaked out, jumped out of the bed gasping and nearly fell over. It was so real looking. I've looked up information about it online, and what they've described as sleep hallucination does sound accurate. It's happened a couple times after that, although I can't remember the details of the other ones really, but I think it probably involved another bug, probably a dark spider. It actually happened again last night though. I saw what appeared to be a group of dark spiders on top a web next to my pillow. Again, I freak out, jumped out of the bed, and was completely terrified. It took me minutes to even realize it wasn't real, and even then it was really hard to shake the feeling that it wasn't real, and I wanted to turn the light on to make sure. It causes me anxiety to think about the next time this will happen because I know it will. I just don't know why this has started happening to me recently, when I never had this happen before. Oddly enough, I also don't really seem to dream much anymore. And of course I have experienced the almost as terrifying "sleep paralysis" where you are awake and can see around you but cannot move or make any noise. Has this stuff happened to anyone else?

I think I have had something similar. Many times I'll think that I've woken up, or just be waking up and I see the shadow of a person either in the room or in the door way, scares the crap out of me! It might be different because the fear is intense but goes away as soon as I realize that it wasn't real, and I'm not worried about sleeping again even though it's happened on and off all of my life I think.
I have never had this happen to me b4 and I dont think I want to! I have experienced sleep paralysis b4 quite a few times and that is scary enough!
I did find this-not exactly what u r experiencing but maybe it will help!
i use dreammoods.com everyday!I have freaky dreams every night!
Heres what I found though-I know it really is different from what u described but I hope it helps!
Spiders
To see a spider in your dream, indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. Or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. The spider is also symbolic of feminine power. Alternatively, a spider may refer to a powerful force protecting you against your self-destructive behavior. If you kill a spider, it symbolizes misfortune and general bad luck. To see a spider spinning a web in your dream, signifies that you will be rewarded for your hard work. You will soon find yourself promoted in your job or recognized for your achievement in a difficult task. Spiders are a symbol of creativity due to the intricate webs they spin. On a negative note, spiders may indicate a feeling of being entangled or trapped in a sticky or clingy relationship. It represents some ensnaring and controlling force. You may feel that someone or some situation is sucking the life right out of you. To see a spider climbing up a wall in your dream, denotes that your desires will be soon be realized. To dream that you are bitten by a spider, represents a conflict with your mother or some dominant female figure in your life. The dream may be a metaphor for a devouring mother or the feminine power to possess and entrap. Perhaps you are feeling trapped by some relationship.

This happened to me once. I awoke to see a huge spider over me. I thought it was real and ran out of the room screaming. The only thing I can say looking back at the experience is it was right after a traumatic event in my life. I was around 10 or 11 and my parents were having "problems" - I was not supposed to know, but I would always listen in on their conversations.
For me I just think it was complete fear of the future coming out in dreams, etc. I also had night terrors at this time.
Probably doesn't help, but I don't think you are alone.

Your Beauty should not come from outward adornment.....instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit (1 Peter 3:3-4)
I have this regularly. Or I think something really happened when it didn't, I was dreaming. Thursday night I yelled at my boyfriend for shaking the bed while I was sleeping. He claims he wasn't. I was all "I saw you you moron!" He did the "Erinn, show me what I supposedly did." And sure enough, it's impossible to shake the bed the way he *was* shaking it. I still remember him shaking it, and *seeing* him shake it. But nope.
Luckily mine are not usually scary. If it happens enough you may get used to it and know it's not real even though you feel it is.
Personally I think dream-states and awake-states are much closer than we generally think.
