Not sure if I'm posting this in he right section but I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this?
The first time in happened I literally thought I was dying, I was sooo scared. I don't get hallucinations and it normally happens when I'm really tired and trying to have a nap. Suddenly I find I can't move and although I haven't had any official diagnosis, from internet research I think that's what it is.
Anyway, my question is (if anyone else has had it) how to cope afterwards? My heart races, I can't sleep and I get even more tired! Even though I think I know what it is, I can't help feeling that if I asleep, I'm not going to wake up. It's awful.
I was going through a difficult time with my depression and started having sleep paralysis, really bad nightmares and sleep walking, I wasnt getting hardly any sleep at all. I only got it sorted when I had a massive panic attack at work and went to the doctor who gave me some sleeping pils for 3 days, I managed to get some decent sleep and the sleep paralysis stopped. I was also on anti depressants at the time.
I now take herbal sleeping tablets when I am working to make sure I have decent sleep.
Hope that helps

I had sleep paralysis a lot when I was on Lexapro. It must have been a side effect because I've never experienced anything like it before, or since I stopped taking Lex.
I have no idea what to do about it or how to stop it. I think if you're feeling upset after it happens you could take some Valerian (herbal) to calm you down and get back to sleep again. It is very scary and unpleasant isn't it
