It could be adrenal fatigue. You don't have enough energy to stay awake, but also don't have enough energy to get good sleep (yes, you need energy to sleep). The adrenals secrete hormones to wake you up when you are rested, but they also secrete hormones to put you into a nice deep sleep, so you feel awake and refreshed when you wake up.

Adrenal exhaustion is relatively common. It is caused by stress, and women who have PCOS are under more stress than most people.

It might be sleep apnea, too, so it is good that they will check for that.

Oh my gosh! I thought it was just me. My family and friends make fun of me because I'm always tired and I sleep all the time. I get up and go to work every day, but it's hard to stay awake the whole time. I could sleep for days on end I think. Let me know what the doctor's say. I've mentioned it to my doctor and he said it didn't have anything to do with PCOS

Has your thyroid function been tested? Low thyroid function can cause fatigue.

I am the same way. I can go to bed at 6pm and sleep until noon the next day and still wake up feeling tired. Everyday, I get so tired around the same time, and I just want to shut my eyes and sleep but I can not because I have to get my daughters off the school buses at 3:30 and then again at 4:00. Then I need to make supper for them and hubby. It really stinks being this tired all the time. I believe my thyroid has been tested too and It came back normal. I will have to double check that info though when I go back next week.

Julie

I don't think it's a "normal symptom." I mess my sleep patterns up a lot and I still feel just fine on 5 hours of sleep.

Day 1: 2:00- 6:00 am
Day 2: 3:00- 6:00 am
Day 3: 4:00- 6:00 am, 7:00 am- 11:00 pm
Day 4: 2:00-6:00 am, 7:00 am-12:00 pm
