Default small boobs

Hi everyone!

I have always had high testosterone/low estrogen and progesterone since I started puberty.

My boobs never really grew, and I always had a small a cup. It never really bothered me because I do a lot of sports so always considered myself lucky.

Anyways, I started taking an insulin sensitizer recently and now my boobs really hurt. I think they are growing.

Is this possible? I'm 23. The insulin sensitizer is making my testosterone lower and my estrogen higher. I never thought that I would have boobs... but now the idea is kinda appealing...

Has this happened to any of you? What do you think?

I definitely don't have small boobs, I was a C at 14 and now I'm a DDD, I really don't think it has anything to do with hormone levels. I don't know for sure but I know I've read some comments by other cysters who have larger boobs. I can say that when I ovulate my boobs tend to swell a little and become tender so maybe that is what's happening because of the meds.

Hormones can change breast size. Inuslin sensitizers can affect hormones, so yes, it's possible you could be increasing in breast size.

I'd find that a welcome side effect!!! I'm a 34aa and could do with a bit/lot extra. I was hoping bcps would do that for me, but no....

I've pretty much always been a C cup, but went up to a D when I was at my max weight. I have noticed lately my left nipple is swollen and super painful. The right one is swollen too but doesn't hurt as bad...it's freaking annoying.

Can I have that side effect? It seems like I started puberty, then just... stopped. I'm about at the level of a 12 year old. Just a lot fatter. -.-

Very possible and probably what's happening. Up till now you've had a much more male-type hormonal balance, now you've probably got a much more typically female balance and getting more typically female breasts.

BTW: The pamphlet that comes with Spiro says breast enlargment is the most common side effect of the med.

I've been wondering about that too. I am barely a C cup but I feel like my boobs were fuller before and seem to be getting a little smaller. My breast size has never increased with weight gain like it normally does for woman. I gain weight in my mid section but my breast size has always remained the same.

I've heard that your testosterone can decrease if you lose fat in your mid section and that your breast size can increase if you lose that weight. Does anyone know if that's true?

It sounds like a good theory. I cannot find any links on it right now. Try Pubmed.

I veto the "male hormones have made you flat-chested" comments, 'cause that's just wrong, but sure, many meds can mess with your cup size (both up AND down!) But it's generally agreed that heredity is the primary cause of breast size.

Personally, my testosterone when first tested was approaching adolescent male levels (and it likely had been that way forever), but I was a D cup by 7th grade, before my weight gain, and a DD currently.

High testosterone levels do NOT directly control whether you end up with small breasts. Your genetic pattern plays a much larger part in it.

Mine grew about the time I started having all the problems with PCOS. When all the symptoms started showing themselves, I got bigger. The dr isn't sure why. I didn't even grow this much when I was pregnant. I went from a 32D to a 32F. Not really sure what makes them grow, but sometimes they do!

I think our testosterone during puberty has a great deal to do with size. Not necessarily how much testosterone we have later, but how much we have at the onset of puberty is likely to determine breast size IMO.

Do you have hypoplastic breasts (tubular breasts)?

Hrm... I think that this is fairly easily explained...(I hope)

I think that the women with big breasts, or those that grew when they began having PCOS problems, are converting most of their testosterone/androgens to estrogen and are probably estrogen dominant.

Those with small breasts that never seem to grow, do not have the aromatase available to convert all the excess testosterone to estrogen. And are testosterone dominant. (Me)

I do think that heredity has to do with it too, but you get your hormonal balances from your parents so... it must all be connected.
