I can tell you that mine smells too. And mine is hormone related. Sorry to be graphic but since I started being sick smells like ammonia (sp?) and when I get my progesterone injections each month the smell changes to hair salon chemical smell. Neither are normal...maybe someday we can all smell nice again.

I have IBS, PCOS and Kidney dysfunction and my urine can fluctuate between smelling fruity and smelling like rotten chicken. It has nothing to do with the IBS. That effects a whole different system. Urinary smells usually have either something to do with hormonal changes or kidney problems. Does the smell change or is it constantly yucky? Do you get any pains in your side around or above your hips? If its constantly stinky and/or accompanied by flank pain then Id ask a doc and think about seeing a urologist. Hope it helps...

I personally believe that yeast/candida overgrowth causes PCOS, and IBS as well as a few other things, and yeast can also cause unpleasant feminine odor.
A UTI can cause foul smelling urine.

I have IBS and PCOS and off and on during the month my urine smells musky like a male cat piss if that makes sense. I contribute mine to hormonal problems like my high level of testosterone and lack of progesterone. I will say that eating fresh pineapple often helps with the oderous urine also makes your stuff taste sweeter to your man IBS mine is due to food allergens and large amounts of stress.

I've heard there is a connection between PCOS and inflammatory diseases such as fibromyalgia, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), and rheumatoid arthritis. I think in your situation it's just by coincidence of having PCOS and irritable bowel syndrome. I even tried finding articles relating to this but couldn't find some at the moment. Unfortunately for us, PCOS has a manifestation of other diseases when it's not controlled.
I agree with caviechick, that you should see your doctor and eventually an urologist. It could possibly be several things, but they would have to run some lab tests to rule out kidney dysfunction or UTI. They will ask you the same questions that caviechick asked including problems urination, urine color, frequency in urination, pain (on the side?, during urination?), do you have diabetes, or have you had your sugar level checked?
It's interesting that the pineapples neutralize the odor of the urine. Sounds like your urine is more alkaline than before. Do you get kidney stones? Have you had them before?
You may have to offer more of your symptoms to a physician. I hope it turns out.

missed this somehow, but I have IBS and PCOS... I don't think they're related, just a coincidence that I/we have them both.
Is your only symptom that it smells? That's probably not IBS, but if you have diahrrea to, it could be IBS or C. Diff, or a host of other things. You could check with your doctor.
