I am a 23 year old with PCOS. My boyfriend and i have been together for 1 and 1/2 years, and my sex drive has always been considerably higher than his. He is 29 years old and has always told me that the reason is just that he is older.
I do not take any medications to regulate my hormones, i prefer to moniter my diet and exercise. My natropath informs me i should drink no alcohol, and eat very limited dairy foods for my condition.
However i have a real problem with our lack of intercourse with my partner and always bring it up to him. Finally yesterday he tells me a huge part of not wanting to sleep with me is because he is turned off by the smell of my vagina.
I am very hygenic, i wash every day and i am aware that there is a smell.
I have been checked for STDs and have none, but also have some discharge, which is so far unexplained.
Does anyone out there know of a connection between PCOS and what i am experiencing? Please help.
There's probably no connection between what you're experiencing and PCOS. It's easy to try to attribute every weird reproductive or sexual issue to PCOS, I know I've done it.
You are probably experiencing one of the following:
1. A low-grade yeast infection (like notcrazy said)
2. Baceterial Vaginosis (this is serious and can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and you should be checked out by a doctor. It is not an STD, rather an imbalance of natural bacteria)
3. A BF who is too inexperienced or insecure with sexuality to accept that ladies' cooches have a natural scent.
Do see a doctor, especially if you notice the scent too. BV should not be taken lightly.
I get a certain smell every time I'm about to Ovulate or get my period. I find that a couple showers a day help, because sometimes we tend to sweat down in that area. Also I have shaved all the hair before and that's helped air it out lol I know TMI, sorry.
Maybe your DB just isn't used to the smell. My Husband says it's an aquired taste lol either you like it or you don't, most men do though. That probably goes for the natural smell too.

How smelly is it? What i mean is, what does it smell like?
fish, or the avarage vagina scent?
Sometimes the fishy smell is from infections...but you said you've been tested for that. I find that when i shave all...completely(brazilian wax also) it's a lot cleaner and fresher. I wash with wash cloths and mild non scented soap (Ivory) some guys are just weird when it comes to vaginas..My boyfriend is not too fond of oral sex (on me that is hehe) because he says it smells weird...but i know it doesn't...it's just your reg 'ol girl smell.

If you have seen a doctor and got the all clear it is probly just the normal smell. I have been told though that completely removing all pubic hair is less sanitary and could cause more infections because the hair is there basically to protect the vagina from bacteria and such. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't tend to it and keep it "neat"but I would give thought to removing all the hair since you think you already have a problem. You could buy some of the flavored stuff for "down there" if it is an oral problem he has or consider this ..IT COULD BE HIM..or the both of you together. There is always a smell in the room when my husband & I get done, but I wouldn't say it's gross.I think it's normal.Good Luck with that.I hope you figure something out. CHRISTY
Poloyps can cause discharge and a really i mean really bad smell down there. I had some removed from my womb last july. You might wanna do some reseach on em. You can get em in your womb cervix endometiom ect.... im not sure if they all cause the discharge and smell but the womb ones do. they can also cause bleeding and pain during BDing
otherwise it could just be your natural smell or the run of the mill infection. either way i suggest seeing your doc again just for reassurance
sorry if this is tmi

i suffer from the same thing...at times..always been rather juicy down there! but early last year i noticed a kinda garlic smell...although i am very hygenic no amount of bathing would get rid of the smell...swabs showed Bacterial Vaginosis (B.V) which i had to take a course of antibiotics.
Not sure if it is directly a part of PCOS but does have to do hormanal inbalances..
i tend to notice if i have had a bad food binging period it can bring smells and itches on but can usually be sorted with the natural yoghurt!
HOWEVER IT WON'T CLEAR B.V!!!!
You could also use those disposable feminine wipes that they make now.
I bring them with me when I have to stay at work.
That may help.

It's not linked to "PCOS" But it has been linked to insuline res and/or diabeties. These types have a harder time controlling the chemical makeup down there.
You do need to go in and rule out BV first. Then you can approach it as an issue with DH's nose.
Hang in there!

Drink a glass of cranberry juice every day and there will be NO smell and you will have a sweet taste. I swear by it.
Hmm, this is interesting! I take cranberry extract tablets when I feel the possibility of a bladder infection coming on...always works to keep an infection away. (because of the acidity). I wonder would just taking cranberry extract tablets everyday do the same thing as the cranberry juice for the odor control?
Also, about the juice, is it any brand of cranberry juice? If not, what brand?
