Smoking & BCP's

Soon I will be taking BCP's Yasmin to be exact, and I am concerned about my smoking. I want to know if any of you are taking BCP's and if you smoke, how does it effect you or have you noticed anything different i.e. headaches? Also does anybody know where I can get info on this matter such as the side effects? I should know these things, but I am not so sure I am ready to quit smoking and at the same time not sure if I need to in order to take BCP's?

Smoking more than 15 cigarettes a day on BCP's is supposed to increase your risk of having a stroke or developing a blood clot in your lungs (pulmonary embolism). This risk is significantly higher if you are over 35.
I myself have an occasional cigarette and I am on the pill, but I would recommend you try to quit or cut down. Warning labels on the bcp package inserts will provide more detailed info.

Thank you very much for the info. I smoke less than 15 a day now so a cut down or even quitting should be easy. *hopefully easy* lol
