I wonder, does anyone know if there is a link between smoking (cigarettes!) and PCOS? Does smoking aggrevate the symptoms? I had heard somewhere that smoking can have an affect on your blood sugar levels.
I am really trying to quit cigarettes, but worry about the weight gain etc.
I have PCOS, and while I am not fat - just the 'tyre' around the middle! I am trying to shed the excess and I could do with not gaining any more.
I am new to this site, and have found so much useful information! Thanks to all!
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this question?
hey i have quit smoking hon becase i am TTC so that is why i did it! smoking is bad for u anyway as it delpleats the bodys nutrients so u should be taking about 1000mgs a day of vit c if ur about 10-20 a day habit!! and a good multi vit!!
my dr told me that smoking DOES make pcos worse IN SOME CASES! if u quit then do wat i do - chew a LOT of gum or suck on lollys the reason most people put on weight is becase they need the action and fulfill it with food lol(
like me) feel free to pm me if u want xx
its as good a reason as any to quit - oh and welcome to the site
Beky xx

I've never been a smoker so I'm not much help on how to quit, but congrats on your interest in quitting! It will be one of the best decisions you ever make! Best of luck!
Glad to have you here

A cigarette has never touched these lips and given the problems that cigarettes cause I doubt one ever will.
Given that smoking has been proven to cause cancer I would like to think that I,personally, would rather be a fat non smoker.LOL!!
Giving up smoking can only help you in the long run,Honey!
I wish you the best of Luck!
Aww, thanks for the replies and encouragement. I haven't smoked today - it hasn't been that hard to be honest - I just keep reading up on the nasty things that ciggies do to you on various websites everytime I fancy one.
As you say - smoking is bad for me anyway, despite PCOS. One thing that is on my mind is the fact that smoking gives you bad skin, and with my horrible acne trouble at the mo, I should be doing all I can to give my skin a chance!
I'll give it an honest go at stopping for good. I actually found another thread on this site with other cysters that have given up smoking which is really useful.
get ur self s tube of boiled sweets or something to suck! it REALLY does help xx

I have been smoke free now for 1 month and 28 days. I wanted to quit before we started ttc again and we are in Jan. But I'm not going to lie to you it's going to be hard and you will have cravings all the time. I have not gained any weight since I have quit I usually jump on the computer or find something to do with my hands. Moving your hands will help. I have also been drinking a lot of water. When I have a craving I grab a bottle of water to help out.
Both me and my husband stop on the same day and cold turkey. It takes a good 2 weeks for the cravings to settle down. If you can make it past that you are good to go. You can do it!!!!!
