Unhappy So confused and frustrated.....

I have been trying to get prenant for 2.5 years and was just DXed with PCOS and IR at the begining of Dec. I had my first ENdo appt on the 31st. She is running more tests to make sure their is nothing else wrong. She asked if I have ever had my Thyroid levels checked and I told her I have and the doctor had said they where fine. Well she asked me to have the test results sent to her so I hand delivered them yesterday. The nurse called today and the Endo thinks I may have hypothyroidism. Does this mean I don't have PCOS or IR? I am just so scared and confused. I though I was finally gettign somewhere and now this...... I am still not on any medicine, they want to wait until more tests result come in. I want a baby so bad and this is just making it so hard. I guess I am just having one of those breakdowns. I am so scared and I feel so helpless and alone. I just don't know what to do..... I had just excepted the fact I have PCOS and Ir. Now this....

Does anyone else have similar stories? Is it possible I have all three problems?

You can be hypothyroid and still have PCOS -- one does not preclude the other. The treatments for PCOS generally include a prescription for Metformin, which will address the insulin resistance. I've been told by my Endo that getting the IR under control will probably help regain my normal flow - hypothyroidism can cause a problem with weight gain, though, which can also throw your body off, so getting it addressed is important, too.

Thank you. You definitly helped to alleviate some of my worries. My doctor was suppose to call back and never did so I haven't been able to question her about anything. I am giving them the whole day to call me back if they don't call by tomorrow I will be calling back. They want to do another test to check antibodies or something.

I don't have any answers but wanted to give you a {{BIG HUG}}! I felt that way before I got my PCOS dx, it is so hard not knowing what is going on with your body!
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thank you for the hug, it is definitly needed and appreciated. What bugs me is I was officially DXed with PCOS and IR by my GYN, and the endo agrees with his DX but wanted to run more tests to see if anythign else was wrong. I would still need Met if it was somethign else because I am still going to be IR no matter what else is wrong. I just didn't see the harm in RXing me MET. Basically I want to get on the road to concieving. I have always wanted to be a mom. *sigh* I guess this is just going to be a very stressful time. My husband has to go to Cali for 2 weeks ont he 7th and I am suppose to hear back from the doctor while he is gone. I won't have anyone to be herephysically for me because I am from Arizona and we are just stationed here in GA. I just have to calm down which is nearly impossible..... Again thank you for the Hug. It make sme feel better knowing I have this support.

Default confused too..new to this..help with the language?

Ladies,

Reading all messages gets confusing, I am learning the language in full (slowly!) but then I get thrown by all of the acronyms used in the 'chat'

Can anyone point me in the direction of some kind of crib sheet to help in translation?

Thanks!

Thyroid problems are very common with PCOS..after all , most things in the body are linked.
