Question So confused, i need some help

Untill this morning my gynocologist had prepared me for the news that i had premature ovarian failure. However i recieved a letter telling me that my results suggest i am a pcos sufferer.
I am really confused and dont know what to expect when i go to the doctors. Am I likely to be on medication for the rest of my life? I dont seem to fit with the stereotyic pcos sufferer. Im 5'7 140 lbs, i dont have acne, im not hairy, my only symptom is that at 20 years old i have only ever had 3 periods.
Most of you ladies seem to know so much on this mattter please help, what should i expect to happen to me over the next few months- more tests?? drugs??
Any information would be great, i dont know anyone else with this condition.
Thanks Sara.

hi sara,
firstly let me say to you dont panic!! we dont all fit into the "typical" pcos range so to speak, im 5ft 6 120 pounds very hairy never had acne but have suffered hair loss and have always had regular cycles so as you see we all exibit different symptoms.
firstly the doctor will prob either give you northisterone to bring on a cycle if you havent had one in a long time, he may offer you the birth control pill to put your ovaries to sleep as it were, yes in the beginning i was given lots and lots of blood tests in different stages of my cycle to see what was happening at different stages but the best thing i was given was metformin, this in turn has given me the weightloss i so badly wanted and has stopped my usually heavy cycles into more lighter and less painful ones, do lots of research, you will find lots on here, and please dont be scared ive had it for nearly 25 years and im doing fine.
if you need someone to talk to give me a shout.
truffles xx
