So confussed and scared just don't know what to do or even think!
I was told yesterday by an endiocronologist that I have Polycistic Ovarian syndrome and my insulin level is really high. The endeocronologist didn't explain things to me at all really and I kinda sat in the chair numb and like I was in a dream and I didn't know what to say I still don't know what to do or think or say. The doctor gave me a prescription for metformin and I asked her if I could have kids and she said we should try sooner then later because later on we will need fertillity and we might not even be able to have a baby. I am so upset and scared I dont know what's next or what to do.
Pish posh. She shouldn't have made it sound so dire. PCOS is no picnic, but it can be controlled, and with a little help, most of us do go on to have the families we want. I'm 34 years old and this is #3 for me. Chin up - there's no reason your future can't be as bright as anyone else's!
Welcome to SC! Chin up, girl! There are MANY success stories on here with women who've had families while dealing with PCOS. It can be done! Educate yourself and be proactive! I suggest looking at some of the great articles our board leader Kat has posted.
Good luck to you, we're here for you!

I think you should find a new doctor. She sounds very insensitive to the matter. I can tell you, I was scared just like you are.I was 17, and I really didnt even know what it meant..and ignored it until now.. Im 21, and its time to do something about it. I have my ups and downs days..sometimes I cry and say how unfair it is to be having to deal with such a grown up problem and then other days, I find research that backs up the fact that you can turn this around. Its a hard road. I have to sit and watch my friends live normal, eat what they want, not worry IF they are going to have periods...and WHEN they have to go see another specialist or worry bout infertility.
The best advice i can give you, is Live for today. Make this day the best daY. Dont stress out bout the child factor or anything else, but keeping yourself healthy and happy. The rest will follow. Especially once you learn about the syndrome and other ways to eleviate the symtoms. Be so happy that there is a website FILLED with women in the same boat we are, and that are all SO SUPER KIND and want to offer advice and help us. It is an awesome community.
Good luck to you. Keep your chin up, and look for the positive.
I know how you feel, but it's definitely not the end of the world. As long as you do your research and stay on top of things, there's a good chance of successfully dealing with this!
