Unhappy So down!

I was at Cracker Barrel eating dinner with my mom and I was telling her how my face has just gotten so worse every since being on accutane (5 months now) and how it isn't helping, i look worse than ever, not only that I get these horrible cysts on it that leave a hard bump under the skin and never go away and I never had that b4 accutane. I started to cry and wasnt even able to eat dinner. I dont understand why this isnt working for me?! I never had sever acne with these hard cysts, they would go away within a few days now they dont go away. I just dont know what to do....I'm so fed up. My fiance comes home in 1 month from Iraq and I look worse than I did b4 treatment. I even think the accutane has caused me to scar. I cannot even describe how down I am knowing that I have gone thru this and it isnt working. Ive already tried everything, nothing works. Ive tried the healthy route with the fish oil, having my hormones tested (which my androgen levels were high), etc. I was on spiro with only results the first 2 weeks I was on it....which was the only 2 weeks since I was 11 I had clear skin but then it stopped working.

And I was IR, but last week I had my fasting insulin levels checked and they came back good!

I just dont understand why this isnt working and why it isnt at least helping instead of making it worse?!

Sorry to vent. I just dont know what to do.

i understand what you are going through. i have thousands of scars on my back from big cysts that came when i was pregnant. accutane did not work with me pre-baby either. the only thing that i have found is clinique acne solutions line, a little pricey but worth it. i also take met and a mulit vitamin. maybe you could try that? i know how it is to not feel pretty for your man. my dh is in the army also and 99% of the time i feel not worthy enough for him becuase i look so bad. well just giving you a suggestion on the clinique. i think you have to keep trying things until you find the 1 that works for your skin.

Ill have to try that once off accutane as I cant use any type of med on my face now. Did you break out worse during accutane or did u just never see a difference in ur skin the whole time?

I'm sorry hun... I have been doing some research acne is caused by aside from hormonal issues as a way your body realeases toxins, try organic dieting for a month

Nothing but fruits veggies flax seeds salmon tuna eggs lean turkey milk yogurt and water and that should help your skin also take multivitamins, drink apple cider vinegar

You need to bring your androgen levels down, drink women's toner tea and women's liberty tea.. I think saw pametto may also be beneficial to you as well

jenn86,

I can sure relate to your plight....until recently, I had bad acne all the time, too, and I'm 46 years old! Seems like I should be past the acne phase by this stage in my life! Like you, I tried everything (except Accutane - that was going to be my last resort!) and NOTHING worked!

And to make matters worse, I have a boyfriend that most people I know describe as handsome and athletic; between my acne and weight problems, I oftentimes didn't feel good enough for him! I can just imagine that with your fiance being in Iraq right now, it would be natural for you to want to look your best for him when he returns home.

I'm going to reiterate what KimmyC said: My acne didn't start clearing up until I started taking Metformin. My skin cleared up -finally!-within 2-3 weeks being on it. Now even when I do get the occasional pimple, it heals a LOT faster than it did before Met. I'm also a BIG fan of Clinique products, so I agree with KimmyC that you might want to try their acne line to see how that works for you. I also agree with Goddess Hecate that a diet free from processed foods can also do wonders for your complexion!

Please don't despair....there IS a solution to your skin troubles; you just haven't found it yet. The good thing about skin is once you find the formula that works for you, it has amazing recuperative powers and will heal quickly.

Are you taking birth controll to help balance your hormones? Have you seen an endocrinologist? An endo can offer advanced solutions to a complicated hormonal problem.
