Sweetmisscuddles - Oops, I think I had a total idiot moment!! If you were dx in 1992, that would make your son about 15/16?? Were you on fertility meds to conceive?

Sweetmiss - Have you had many comments about such a big age gap between the kids yet. Everyone was telling me that my DS Liam (who is 10 this year) will be "too old" to have a baby brother or sister, which really p*sses me off! I wish people would butt out
of my life decisions!! We're not sure at the moment whether or not we will continue with the baby-making journey. It's been a tough time for me. Are you thinking of fertility meds??

Take care

Gina

I am my there are ten and eleven years between my younger brother and sister and myself (thirteen and fourteen years between my older brother and the younger two). I absolutely loved it! More than once, people thought the kids were mine, which was a bit bizzare - being ten and eleven at the time. As for other people, they can think what they want, it's your life - you know what's best for you and your family! Good luck.x

hi again all,

I was reading the posts that mentioned age gap between children. I am 22 and have a 5, 3 and 1 year old brothers. Huge age gap and I absolutely love having the patience and time to spend with them. My mother remarried and everyone was extremelly supportive when she decided to start ttc with her second with an age gap.

Also, after no success with metformin and ttc, we have an appointment on Thursday the 5th of June to see the fertility clinic and hopefully get some answers to what we can do so concieve our miracle. Again, nervous but staying positive.

Gina, glad I could put a more positive spin on things for you. My sister (10yr age gap) and I are SO close, we have a wonderful relationship! My boys are two and four now and we are kind of considering having another child. I would have one in a heartbeat, but DH is still warming to the idea of another. We are getting a little older and are both totally happy with the beautiful babies that we have - but....one more would be wonderful! I feel what's meant to be will be.

Amy, good luck on Thursday. Look forward to hearing what happens.

Gina32, we are forever getting those comments especially this one "why do you want to have a baby now when the child you have is almost grown up and ready to leave home". our answer to that is we have been able to enjoy our son and give him one on one attention and he can't wait to one day be a big brother. i honestly think it is no one else's business if we want a large age gap between our kids it's not like it was by choice.

Gina - Hey hun!! Talking about this age gap thing, obviously not from personal experience as there is only 3 mins between my kids..LOL , BUT, my brother has a 13yr old and 20month old! They love it this way..it wasnt planned this way, they just never feel pregnant, or sadly they had some m/c, but even though they already had a child, it was like it was all new again, like their first child cause everything had changed..Jake loves being a big brother to his little sister, loves her so much and is SOOO protective of her...its great! Stuff everyone else...I went to school with a guy and after we finished school (so 18yrs old or so) his parents had another baby...I thought it was great! Everyone else always has opinions on others families..I have a friend who had their 6th baby back in Feb and my friend thought she was pregnant again recently and everyone had a comment...I always tell her to ask them " are u paying for my kids, do you take care of them?"....Bugger everyone else..do what you feel is right..I know you want another baby, I know how much you want to give Liam a little brother or 2 little sisters ( i remember the twin girls things )...Anyway ,thats just my 2cents worth!!! Luv ya and still owe you an email!!

Hey gorgeous Aussie chicks!!!

Thanks everyone for the input on big age gaps. Deb, you'll love my next statement!! - I have now decided to actively try losing some weight (just joined WW yet again, but with a really supportive mum from school who's also doing it and has lost 11kg so far) and then going back to Fertility North and Margo to try again. We just don't want to go down the IVF route - the $4000+ has kind of scared me!!!

Anyways, I think it's great the thread is getting kicking again - let's all keep it going!!

I need to go to bed!!!

Love to all,

Gina xxx

Hi girls!!
I just wanted to say that I know many couples that have kids in high school and decided to continue ttc for another , despite the age difference. And, Of course , they have never regretted it. The most important thing was that the older child itself was begging for a baby. So don't listen to anybody and do what's right for you and your family.
Amy- So sorry you're feeling down. I've read that just by losing 5-10 % of you total body weight your ttc chances will definitely improve.

Fay

Hi Girls
If there is one question I dislike it is "When are you having the next baby" DS is 4 we have been officialy trying for 12 months, i think the age gap is no ones business. We are seeing Dr Margo at the moment, although I am feeling a bit down as my body doesn't want to respond we cancled last month after 32 days this month my hormones seem to stay stagnant. I am doing the Puregon injections but that doesn't seem to make anything change. Sorry for my ramblings.
