Have you been checked for anemia? My thyroid levels are never where they should be and I too stay cold all the time and have all of the same symptoms but I am also anemic and have something that causes my body to not absord Vitamin D which also makes me tired. So, it's a triple wammy which is now a quadruple wammy since I am preggo. Ask your doc to check all of your vitamin and mineral levels. I am on a prescription for my anemia called Repliva and it's been a life saver as I am not tired a lot but I can get out of the bed and clean the house. I also notice my mood is better since being on the Vitamin D for a few weeks.

you get to the point were you run out of doctors and most definitely money. anyone know your rights when it comes to medical care? doctors are in bed with one another along with the drug companies. so this is something to think about when it comes to such circumstances were they seem not to care about you and more about your money. leeches is what they seem to be.

i guess you have to have no pulse before they take us seriously. there has to be something we can do as patients but what? i'm tired of reading, go to another doctor, go to another doctor. it's insane!

i hear u i don't have health ins haven't for almost two years. i used to b hyperthyroid with graves(autoimmune) i was going to a butthole endo & i started weening myself of my meds myself. i know how i feel. i just went to the dr the other day & she ckd my thyroid & said it was fine. I had upped it the day before, i was alternating half a 25mcg one day half a 75 mcg the next. i upped to 50 mcg & it is helping a bit, i am going to call & get the exact #s and range to see if i need to up again. i learnd a long time ago i do what makes me feel best & if the dr agrees with it fine! im not suggesting anyone else do this. I know ur tired of the crap i have been there too i have no respect for drs, but i did manage to find a fnp who is flaky but she listens & her daughter has pcos so i lucked up. u will just have to get all your labs toghether and go from one to the next till someone listens. i know it sucks i have been going through this crap too for the last 8 years. have u tried FNPs at clinics or small drs offices where the FNP runs it? that is the best type of place i have been. sometimes family drs or endos don't pay enuf attn good luck

I'm new to all this as well, but my doctor tested the TSH and the Free T4 also. It was the T4 that clued her in. I was put on Levo at .25mcg for 2 months and it changed my TSH but not my T4 at all. We just did a scan and that was normal, but I'm not sure what is next. I have a call into her today. Make them go a little deeper with the lab work. I've heard that a lot. I'm just not sure what all to ask for.

I can't believe how many of our stories are so similar, I sometimes feel like I'm reading my own life story over and over again here.

I too have all my labs together and I literally go from one doc to the next and that's what I've been doing for almost 10 years now, of course I wasn't as organized years ago as I am now, mainly because I didn't know which tests I needed and wasn't as informed about my condition as I am now.

I just keep going though, I'd say I'm halfway up the mountain now, and I'm certainly not going to stop now.

Oh my gosh, I know how you feel. I am so frustrated too! I have had all these symptoms for so long and had no idea what could be causing it because my labs were "normal" too. I went to the website that someone posted above-stop the thyroid madness and I am in shock at how much I fit this dx. I also linked from there to this dr. site and he has a "score card" of symptoms to help you determine whether you have sluggish adrenals/hypothyroid or a mix of both. I highly recommend this: I have everything with maybe the exception of like one or two of those symptoms right down the middle so it appears that I may have both. Check it out here: http://www.drrind.com/therapies/meta...ptoms-matrix#1 The biggest red flag for me has been my temps. My temps are crazy low and all over the place. If you don't temp I would recommend that you do it for a couple of weeks (pre O) and that is one possible indication. I just have to get in with a good doctor but I finally feel a little positive that I may have an answer as to why I feel so bad all the time and have these sleep issues. Good luck! There is also a site for the best doctors and maybe you can find one in your area. I found one in mine that has the best reviews and I'm hopeful that I can get in to see her. Here is the link http://thyroid.about.com/cs/doctors/a/topdocs.htm This site is so helpful!

I did not know the thing about temps! I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but I have yet to be able to find a doctor that will diagnose me with anything! I am definitely going to be checking my temps.

Consistently low temps are indicative of hypothyroid. Temps that fluctuate by more than .2 degrees in either direction indicate low cortisol ( adrenal fatigue ). You can also do a pupil test.

Stand in a dark room with a mirrow (such as a bathroom) with a flashlight. Hold the flashlight horizontal and to the side of your eyes at their level. Shine the light into your eyes. If the pupils dilate/shrink/dilate/shrink, it indicates electrolyte imbalance which is associated with adrenal fatigue.

STTM website and Real Thyroid Help website have literally saved my life. It was a RTH member who directed me here as I am just beginning treatment for PCOS. RTH forum has a list of recommended labs to test for hypothyroid as well as Hashi's.

Thanks! I'm going to do that test. You can see my crazy temps here http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2092b3 My chart is a mess. Now I have to go find a flashlight.

My goodness, woman, you weren't kidding! Poor thing! No wonder you're miserable.

Are you craving salty or sweet foods by chance, especially at night?

Yeah sometimes. What does that mean? My will power has been pretty strong though since I started low GI diet. I do better too because I work until 11:30 pm and when I get home I am usually able to just go to bed and not eat anything. I had read about low temps indicating an underactive thyroid, but the fluctuating temp thing I learned from STTM. I was very shocked but I feel that it definitely seems to be what is going on with me. I hope I can just get a doctor to take me seriously.

It can indicate electrolyte imbalance, salt wasting. I LOVE STTM and RTH. I have pimped that book out sooooo much and even have the bumper sticker of Calvin peeing on $yn-crap, lmao!

You can ask your doc to run a test, Sodium, Potassium, Aldosterone and Renin (SPAR), just make sure you fast all salt supplements and salty foods for 24 hours prior. They all need to be run at the same time via serum. You want to see what they are doing in relation to each other.

My salty cravings lessened tremendously once I started supping unrefined sea salt/water twice a day. It also lessened bloating and swelling around my fingers and face, oddly enough.
