It took me years to find a good endocrinologist, by the time that I did I ended up losing my insurance and now cannot afford the meds let alone the dr visits and labwork.
FiestyShamrock That sucks so bad! I know how you feel. I just started a new job and I'm waiting to get my benefits started too. So I'm kind of in the same boat. I wish I had known all this stuff before I moved, because I had great insurance and a great RE that would've been able to help me. Now I'm back to square one with nothing to do but wait!
verbalorchid I was reading on STTM that you can take Isocort for the cortisol. It's OTC. Do you think I should try that? Until I can get in to a doctor, I feel like I should try everything, because I feel so awful right now. I barely have the energy to type this. It's really getting me down. I can't sleep. I have trouble falling asleep and then once I do, I wake up every few hours. It's ridiculous. I just want to sleep through the night just ONCE! ARGH!

Many take Isocort at first and some stay on it. I would suggest the saliva cortisol test first because you can't get accurate results after beginning steroids, which Isocort still is considered. See where your adrenals are, then you can try Isocort and see if it helps you. It might be all you need, or you might need the consistency of hydrocortisone for a period of time.
Just thought - if you're having trouble sleeping at night and are dealing with hypo issues, try some Melatonin. It's natural, the body makes it for sleep regulation of our circadian rhythms. You can also take Magnesium to bowel tolerance and Selenium, both are known to help your thyroid function, and both are known to have a calming effect. I take 400 mg Selenium at night along with 1200 mg Mag citrate. It definitely helps me sleep and I know if I don't take it, I'm up ALL night. Not exactly helpful for me when I work till 11 pm at night and need to sleep before 4 am.
Thank you! I just ordered some mag citrate a week ago and am waiting on my shipment to arrive which should be any day. I was taking magnesium already, but I found out it wasn't citrate, so it's not as good right? I will get the selenium. Is melatonin something I can take in pill form? I work 3-11:30 pm myself so it is hard to sleep because I want to stay up late (like right now, lol) but I wake up every 3-4 hours like clockwork once I fall asleep. Usually after the 2nd time, I can't go back to sleep at all.

yup comes in pill form. You want to start off with the lowest dose, like 1.5 mg or something. Most people end up taking like 3 mg about 30 mins - 1 hr before bed. See if 1.5 works, if not you can go up to 3, but beware that you aren't in any type of adrenal fatigue. It can lower cortisol.
