Default So happy to have found this forum - need some advice!

Hi, I have just discovered this forum and am hoping someone out there might be able to help.

My PCOS history - well I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 23 when I failed to have a period for more than a year after coming off the pill. Anyway I went back on the pill and about 5 years ago decided to stop and let my system go au natural. I was in quite a stressful relationship at the time and it was only when I met my current partner four years ago that I started having periods every other month, which was fab for me as I started to feel like a functioning female again. Anyway to cut a long story short, I was totally amazed when I became pregnant very quickly after deciding to start trying and my pregnacy was fab.

I am now 34 and have a fantastic 2 year old daughter and after years of worrying about being able to conceive I feel truly blessed.

My problem is this - since having my daughter I have had a few periods, one which was so heavy I couldn't leave the house. After recently kitting myself out with some ovulation testing kits back in October in prepartion for our second try at conception, I started my period and am still having my period some 2 and a half months later there is alot of clotting and one minute it's fresh blood and then it's watery - all over the place. I went to my GP a couple of weeks ago and she said she could put me on hormone drugs to stop the bleeding but I told her I was hoping to start trying for another baby and didn't want to start loading my system up with drugs which could hinder my chances over the coming months as obviously these things can take months to get out of your system.

I asked if I could go back on the Metformin which I did and am about to up it to 2 a day, however I am still bleeding and really not sure whether to continue with the Metformin and ride out the bleeding (surely it can't go on forever???), I have got back to the gym and am keen to get some pounds off, and I feel so much better already. Should I wait a while longer and see if the increased fitness, metformin and diet help or get on with stopping the bleeding. I have had long periods lots of times but never this long and I am so worried that I won't be able to have another baby. Don't know what to do for the best and would really appreciate hearing from those of you who have been through similar.

Thanks for reading!!! (Sorry if it was rather garbled!)

Thanks very much for replying, I don't really know what I'm doing on this site yet and was thinking I may have posted this in the wrong section.

Will go to the Newbie bit!
