How about we all get together and plot our own t.v. show? It's not difficult. All we need is several thousand dollars and we can secure a spot, production stuff, etc. I'm sure there are plenty of you who are great "talkers" and can get anyone to support you monetarily, so.... what are we waiting for?
I'll be the face on the t.v. I already know how to do that and thensome.... I'm a commie (communication major). Oh, fun times ahead! lol
that would be great exposure! i hate how so few people know about it. i had to convince my mother in law that it was real and could cause serious problems!
Actually, a few months ago, Oprah had Dr. Oz on for one of his health themed shows. A woman in the audience stood up and asked a question about her facial and body hair. Dr. Oz's first question was whether or not she had regular menstrual cycles or if she'd been tested for PCOS. I was pleasantly surprised.
If Tyra or Oprah did a show on PCOS, I hope they choose women in different stages of PCOS: the newly diagnosed, those struggling to conceive, those struggling to lose weight, those who have successfully conceived, those who have successfuly lost weight, those managing PCOS with diet and exercise and/or natural supplements, those managing PCOS with diet/exercise and meds, and those managing PCOS post-menopause. Seeing the full spectrum of PCOS and its effects on women would be the most educational and emotionally impacting.

Don't lose heart! I know it's frustrating, but the more of us who jump up and down and create a demand for this kind of information, the more they will have to take notice, eventually. Good on you for being proactive ... the more information is out there the less time other women will have to wait, wondering what on earth is happening to their bodies.
We need a default letter that people can copy/paste to places that they wish to talk about PCOS. I was thinking maybe sending letters to Dr. Phil and even the show The Doctors that is a spin off of his show.
First thing we need to think about a letter for people to copy/paste is what to put in it. I know maybe statistics, like isn't PCOS the number one cause of infertility in women? Maybe a few others.
Before any of you object, having a default letter that people can use is good for those who can't think of a way to express themselves, but still want to help with the cause of getting word out about PCOS. It can also help if someone reads it and gets ideas for their own letter. Maybe even just putting a list of things you can include. I, sadly, am scatter brained and can't think of things. But if anyone has suggestions of what to put I can start on a letter. Or maybe someone else can, since I tend to come off a bit strong when writing letters of this sort.
It would be amazing if Tyra did something on PCOS. She has always been a great inspiration for me, she just seems like she'd be such a sweet person to meet. For a while now, I've been wanting to have an event for the awareness of PCOS and use my public relations contacts to promote it. Alas, I don't have the funding to do it on my own (I actually have no funding, but I am more than willing to donate my time and my skills for any events that do turn up)
