Yes I have heard lots of women get over their PCOS symptoms by having a hysterectomy, you should post that question on the board I am sure you would get more answers that way.
I am Hypo was DX in 1999 it took 3 yrs for them to get me regulated on a T4 only med (IE:synthyroid, Levoxyl, Levothyroid etc T4 only med) even though I was on meds, I still felt like crap even though my TSH was in the normal range, I went on like this until 2006, In 2005 I took it upon myself to research Armour Thyroid which is a T3 and T4 combo med went through about 6 drs finally found someone who would prescribe it for me and Now I can chase my kids, do my household chores, and feel all around human again since being on my Armour and I also take 25mcg of Levothyroid also. YES it will be possible to lose weight you will have to take it slow and either cut back on what you eat or you can try Adkins, CAD, Low Carbing, South Beach diet something like that, I am currently pregnant but before I could conceive my first DD I had to lose 40lbs I went from 230 down to 195,I am hoping I can lose weight again, I have only gained 12lbs this whole pregnancy and I am due to deliver by C-section Sept 3, so maybe I will be a bit lighter before I start dieting again, anyway it helps alot if your Thyroid is in working order to try to lose weight, I hope you feel better soon. ((((hugs))))) I have been where you were and I am so thankful for Armour thyroid it was my lifesaver.
