Default So Just How Healthy IS Shrimp?

I know that fish is mega healthy for you, but how to things like shrimp and lobster compare?

I make it a goal to eat lots of fish (6 - 10 times a week). Last week, I had fish 4 times and shrimp 5 times... I'm wondering if I can say "Good for me! I ate shrimp!" or is it more neurtal?

Or even worse - could it be bad for you???

I think it's good for you. It's high protein and zinc and low fat. I love it too!

lol...sorry the smilie made me laugh....

Shrimp that aren't butterflied (so that they look flat or flatter) still contain what we'd consider intestines, thus holding shrimp's fecal matter...sometimes cocktail shrimp have had them cleaned out but typically...no. I try to skip the ones that have it (it being a dark line that runs down the back of the shrimp). Sometimes you can remove it yourself if you are in a place where that is acceptable.

SORRY to ruin anyone's shrimp eating. I still eat them I just get them butterflied or remove it when I see it.

Some packaged shrimp come with a lot of salt. I try to soak and wash mine before eating, but the salt makes it taste sooooo good. check the labels for sodium content if you're concerned.

I agree with the PP who said they were very high in cholesterol! When I was having my gallbladder attacks and put on a low fat diet, I thought that shrimp was in the clear due to not having any fat! Boy, was I wrong - the cholesterol actually gave me the worst gallbladder attack ever!
