I am getting really frustrated. The very few women that I have told about PCOS keep saying, "There is no such thing. You are diabetic. High blood sugar and Insulin does not cause cysts to form on your ovaries." I do not understand PCOS either. i have 3 books right now about PCOS. But get frustrated when I read it.
Have you had problems with this? I regret telling some of the very few women about this. My mother keeps saying that I got this from my father. I do not care who I got this from if at all. I just hate having people playing with my head. I should have never told them. My mistake.
I just wish there was something more... I may be really stupid, but I feel that there is not enough about PCOS. I feel that there is not enough treatment for us (the very small population of PCOS).
Sorry, I do not mean to be a spaz, I have no one to talk to about this and feel secure. I already feel like a freak.
Thank you for reading, I really appreciate it.
Have a wonderful day!

Ya know for some people unless they go thru it they can't imagine it. It is also easier to deny what you can not understand. Unfortunately those of us that live with it have no other choice but to understand it.
The best thing you can do it what you are doing. Fight to understand for yourself screw the rest of them. Arm yourself with knowledge...keep reading and asking questions, there is so much on here and what isn't here already I bet one of us knows...Us cysters are very resourceful.
There is no other way to be...you keep researching...asking questions...forget about the ones that don't get it, cause the probably won't. Just educate you that way when someone says something foolish you have facts and intelligence to fight their ignorance to the ground.

Hi there, I know exactly what you mean, and I was going to post a similar lament today. When I was first dx'd in August '07, I told my DH and friends about PCOS, and they looked at me with blank stares. It was almost as if I got the feeling they thought I was making it up for attention or to explain my weight gain or something. So I went into denial for 6 months, I guess because I thought it would go away if I ignored it long enough, or maybe I just wasn't ready to make any changes. I was tired of feeling terrible though, so last month I began a quest for knowledge, which thankfully led me to this site. I have been reading like a fiend, eating low GI, and trying alternative remedies, and I feel so much better. I can't believe how little press PCOS gets, enough so that I didn't even know what it was until I was dx'd at 29 years old! Thank goodness for this website! And just keep doing what makes you feel better and seeking out information. I think eventually we will all figure out what works for us so we can be healthy and happy.
Thank you ladies! I really appreciate your support and words. I am going to try really hard to learn all I can so I can be there for another Newbie. It may take a while since my 3 year old is very demanding of my attention. But, hopefully soon I can give back to a needful person like you all have for me and the other cysters.
Bless you

I stumbled on this site about four weeks ago, and what a big blessing. People will get it!!! We have all been there! Until I talked to my cousin I just couldn't wrap my mind around this PCOS thing. I have always felt like I was blaming weird symptoms on something, and that is always how people treated me. They thought that if I was a little more active the pounds would just fall away. They don't, they mean a lot of hard work. Plus I have ugly hairs. None of my pretty friends have this hairy issue. They don't work through exhaustion, or get what it is like to have excess belly fat (I get the pregnant question all the time). Finding this site has been a huge deal. Even if you don't comment, these amazing cysters can make you laugh, they can make you cry, but they understand it all. So, welcome!!!

I've had a hard time with people understanding as well. I tried to hard to explain and provide research, but never succeed for the most part. Educating yourself is the best therapy, IMO but I learned the hard way some people just won't believe you no matter what...even having the dr explain to them won't help. But this site has been a Godsend...you'll learn so much, you won't even believe it!
