Went for a health check this week,all new patients at that surgery have to go. It poured with rain as i left the house so i was a little late getting there then some horrid bloke sat next to me and starting chatting to me so when i got into to see the practice nurse i was flustered. She took my height and weight then told me i was obese,ya think! Then she took my blood pressure which was high.I'm not suprised since i felt harassed so she has given me a blood pressure monitor which i have to use every morning and evening. Then she gives me a healthy eating booklet and food diary,that just finished me off.It did not matter many how many times i said i have PCOS that booklet wont do,i have PCOS i'm going to have high blood pressure.I have PCOS! The nurses eyes just glazed over and she shooed me away. What don't they ever listen! I am not one of those people who lives at the doctors infact i never get sick so no need to go. She better not say i need treatment for high blood pressure when she gets my results because since taking my BP at home it has been in the normal range

welcome to sc im so sorry that you got upset today! I know what you mean, it's sooo easy for bp to go high when we see a dr! I hope that the healthy living booklet helps you. I'ts so hard to lose weight, isnt it?? or so i found, anyway. What's helped me was met, and not eating wheat

its tough isnt it, trying to shift the lbs, my bp is also a bit high even with no stress, but i have done loads of research and am doing my very best to try and get it down or atleast stop it going up more. I know it can be frustrating when people dont understand the difficulties and the health issues that come along with PCOS but there may be some good tips in the book she gave you that you could incorporate into your diet ....i would give it a read. I think sometimes we all get a bad day perhaps the nurse was having one of those days too. I hope you are feeling better x

oh amelia i love your boys names i wanted to call my lil boy if i ever get that far hamish but DF wudnt agree so had to settle on cameron but i love the names xx

The booklet went in recycling,i'm happy being on my own healthy eating plan it has helped especially my cycle. After taking my BP at home all week it has been normal,i'm so looking forward to giving my form back to them. Fingers crossed i wont have to visit the surgery again for a long time!

glad your bp is back to normal thats great. whats the secret? nothing i do seems to change my bp.

glad you are ok. I was just thinking...... with the one nurse at our gp surgery - we didnt get on first visit. We just didndt seem to understand each other. But next visit we got on fine and have done ever since

I think it's just lack of knowledge that made me dislike the nurse,like you say Eva hopefully next time she will be better. Amelia when you have your BP done just be very calm,as i was taking mine at home i was more relaxed it only went up once when i tested because hubby made me jump out of my skin but other than that it was normal.I had to take it when i was relaxed and doing nothing. I bet when you do absolutely nothing your BP is normal.
