Iv ebeen shaving daily for nearly 20 years, I used to get depressed but I guess after this long its just part of my life.I have tried laser and IPL with limited success as lots of the hair doesnt have enough pigment in it. Im about to try spiron. to see if that can halt me getting any hairier. I know every year I get that little bit hairier so any help with that would be a god send

what is Flutamide? Sounds like something I might be interested in. I know that Dr. said there was a cream for my face but she didnt suggest it since we are not avoiding pregnancy and it causes birth defects. Would this be the cream she is talking about. I just turned 26 and I shave my chin every day (unless i dont leave the house), and I use nair on my mustache every 3 days or so. I have other hair I bleach or shave..I am a walking ape.

Yes -- I was shaving my moustache every day by the time I was fifteen. I'm fifty now and I've now also got quite strong beard growth on my chin. But it's no big deal. I use a (men's-type) electric shaver and it's just regarded as a simple fact that in our house dh and I both shave. The kids have always known that most women aren't as hairy as I am, but that most women do shave their legs and remove a bit of moustache growth occasionally, by one means or another. I reckon there's no use getting up-tight about those things that are just a fact of life.

Default Just found soulcysters-- thank goodness

This is my first-ever post. (Diagnosed PCOS about 10 years ago but most of my treatment has been to ignore it.)

I have to shave 2x a day-- facial hair is a nightmare for me. Black hair, fair skin.
Q: Anyone have good laser treatment in the D.C. area? I'm living here temporarily and at my wit's end.

I also have to shave daily. I have upper lip hair, sideburns and two spots on my chin area (one on each side) that I have to tweeze or shave. Usually the new growth is back by evening. I HATE it. I can't take any of the meds for it though since I'm ttc. You're not alone.

ScaredSally and Tiggerlily, I have those same two patches on either side of my chin as well. Since I've been taking the N-Acetyl-Cysteine the little "bald" patch in the middle of my chin is getting wider though!

I shave with a men's electric razor and if I want to be absolutely 100% smooth I must shave daily. If I can deal with a tiny bit of a stubbly feel I can do every other or even every third day. This is due to the supplements I've been taking (Saw Palmetto berries and NAC). Prior to supplements I had to shave twice a day and would only feel smooth for maybe three hours.

It really doesn't bother me much, to be honest. Yeah, it's one more thing I have to do, but that's about it. I don't go into fits of angst about it. I don't get upset about shaving my legs or other areas, so why my face? Oh, so we're supposed to pluck or wax our brows and therefore only discreetly pluck or wax any other facial hair, while men get the ease and convenience of shaving? Pshaw! That's pure, 100% social taboo and I don't take too well to such things. I don't think ill of ladies who do get upset, I just wish we could all be liberated from taboos

Dana

Have any of you tried using an epilator instead? Or Magic Cream?

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.

so weird, I as well get those two patches on the sides of my chin, and kinda up the sides of my mouth. Its all blonde *knock on wood* but terminal/course, so I shave it. I take saw palmetto extract and havent seen a diffence, maybe I will try the berries..Dana is NAC really good for excess hair?

Mindijean, I've tried the epilator on my face and YIKES!!! It hurt so bad I screamed! Won't be doing that one again.

Haven't seen Magic Cream available in Australia, but I have tried every other cream and paste, and they don't even budge my facial hair a bit. And they stink.

Hope this helps
Kath

i've also got it really bad ..right now i have to let it grow out so i can get it waxed at the salon. She said i have to let it grow for 3 weeks and it is absolutly killing me. All i want to do is hide in the house. Luckily it's cold out and i can wear a scarf around my face ..haha but it does get a little weird when i'm sitting in a room with a scarf over my face..so after that i just wear my hair down and try to cover it that way. I will be so happy when i can get this crap off my face.
i usually have to shave twice a day..i never thought i'd have a 5o'clock shadow *sigh*
sometimes it is so heartbreaking to have to go through all of this

Hey Jax!!

I live just outside of Indy and have started going to Indy Laser Hair Removal on Raceway Road, across from Meijer in Avon. They were running a special for a 6 tx package for full face for $875. It is usually $1250. They use the GentleLASE laser and after your tx package is done, you can get touchups for half off for life. I have only had two tx and now only shave my chin every 3 days or so--and even then it's barely noticeable!!! And I have tried EVERYTHING!!!! NOTHING had worked before, and even after I shaved, there was always that "black shadow" lurking below--and that is TOTALLY GONE NOW!!! After this last tx I have virtually no hair anywhere else on my face, and I used to have to shave my upper lip every 2-3 days and my cheeks every other day! (Can you tell I'm sold on this place?!?!?! :-)

Anyway, their website is: www.indylasercenter.com and if you decide to go there, let me know! (They offer a $50 referral!) BTW--they also take payments!!

Good Luck!!

Wendy
