My Mood: Points: 4,956.27 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,956.27 | So tired of drs... Well, I am just posting this to get it out of my symstem. I am sure I am overreacting, but I don't know. I went to Penn PCOS/Fertility Clinic today to get some answers. After waiting an hour she talks to me for 20 minutes and sends me on my way. I didn't get many answers. She was like I can't tell you anything until I get bloodwork and ultrasound done. She also said I don't know why you have hot flashes that isn't a part of PCOS....BULL**** that may not be a symptom directly, but c'mon it's gotta be hormonal in nature. I don't know. She just didn't seem to understand and was like you should participate in this study...and was like pushing it on me...I was like I dont think I can, I am not driving at the moment and it's this place is an hour away from me and they want you to once a week for 16 weeks and then bi weekly for week 18-40! I can't afford to take the bus up there that much, and she was like well it sounds like you have enough time on your hands... !!! She just made it seem like I wasn't doing enough! I dont know what to do. I've been through so many drs and well I dont think there is anyone else to go to around here. (I live in SJ)....IDK. I need help and don't know if I'm ever gonna find it. For now I am gonna put up with her.

I had all my blood work done and it came back as me having hypothyroidim, hyperinsulimia, and possible diabetic. They told me nothing about the hirsuitism, testertone, or androgen levels!! Kinda frustrated. So I asked them if I really had PCOS, and they were like well we didnt THAT, but you need to see an endocrinologist to get this interpreted!! Its sooo freaking frustrating....its hard to get into one of them too!! |

You should follow your instincts about the study...never get pushed into a study! (They shouldn't push you) When they get your labs back, make sure You get a copy of all of them so that you can have the information for yourself, and could look up the lab levels for yourself as far as what is normal and what is not, and also it may speed things up if you switch doctors.
Good luck finding answers!

Good luck finding answers! | Yea, I was just having bad anxiety when I wrote this and on reflection really wasn't so bad. I mean ok the wait and time spent was that bad, but I mean I was being overdramatic just I dunno stressed lately. About 5 minutes were spent talking about the medication I was on, 5 minutes about blood pressure and how mine was too high and how she wouldnt listen that I was just nervous and it isnt normally that high bc I monitor it everyday bc I am on HBP medicine, and 5 minutes talking about the study that she felt I should do and make sure to drop her name, and 5 minutes about what she had planned for bloodwork and stuff. I request my labs all the time bc my mom is a lab tech so she always wants to see it! lol. I've been through so many dr's now that I am tired of switching, so I am gonna not take the first impression and just continue going there and see if maybe it gets better. I think it might just be me bc she has such a good track record! Thanks a lot for the replies ladies. I do appreciate it.

Yes hot flashes is definately hormonally related.
Especially if you are insulin resistant and recently you have put on weight due to this.
Putting on weight can change your hormones slightly - this happend to me...I went from 62 to nearly 80kgs.. towards 78 to 80kgs I started to have sort of hot flashes like I can imagnine older women in menopause have (perhaps not as bad but similar),
Anyway once on the metformin I lost 10kgs I went from 79 to 69kgs and Guess what - no more flashes.. feel SO MUCH better, no tiredness etc.
I think hot flashes means you have less estrogen.. so perhaps losing weight witht he help of met and low GI and exercise will make the flashes go.
Anyway it did for me. Hope this helps.
I know I had a lack of estrogen when I put the weight on as my body hair thinned and this is a sign of estroge going lower and I had the flashes at this time too. |
