Question So tired now...what about then?

Hey everyone! I just started Met 500 mg on about 2 weeks ago and upped to 1000 mg about 5 days ago and I feel so tired. In another week, I start 1500mg. Is the sleepiness going to get worse than it is? Anyone else feel sleepy on 1000mg? Being a teacher and going back to work soon, I am kind of nervous. Plus, with the stomache upsets, i have not been drinking my coffee! Anyone else with the coffee problem? i hope i can soon add it to my diet, but not now!

thanks so much for any support

I've never been sleepy on met.....but i'm very careful with what I eat when I have to go somewhere....Like I mean when there will be no bathroom nearby. What is the coffee problem? I love coffee but I try to stay away and I drink tea instead. I don't know it that's bad too or not.

The "coffee problem" is just that my stomach cant handle it right now. Thanks for the tea idea!

Met frequently interferes with your body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 from the foods you eat. When you don't get enough B12, fatigue is one of the first symptoms. A lot of us take either a B-complex supplement or a calcium supplement (calcium helps your body absorb B12).

Well that makes sense then. Tea has been wonderful for me... I mostly drink the regular stuff but sometimes I swith it up with herbal or whatever. Good luck!

I take (took...I've stopped since switching to a prescription prenatal) my B-complex supplement right before going to bed and never had a problem, even when Met was giving me fits. Unless you're generally sensitive to vitamins, I don't think you have to worry.

HTH and gl!

Im on a herbal insulin sensitiser (like met without gastric side effects) and im suffering from very bad fatigue. The herbal Dr told me its to do with the changing blood sugar levels. Usually the drop in blood sugar. I hope it gets better soon! Im worse after meals, low carb or not. Any advice?

I have the same issue. I'm on 2000mg now for the past few weeks and it is bad. I find myself trying to take naps everywhere! I think it is so unsafe as I am on the road constantly (sales). I am normally very active and can get right up in the morning, but I feel myself wanting to stay in bed ALL day long. Even on the weekends, I just want to sleep. I take a multivitamin and calcium but nothing seems to help. I was going to get one some thermogenics but haven't gotten the approval from my doc yet. '

The stomach aches should go away soon. I always eat something really heavy when taking my pills. But I guess that isn't helping me with my weight loss issue, now is it?

When I first started I had major major issues with fatigue. I was teaching 3 year olds too so it wasn't an option.

Doc told me it would just stop in a couple of weeks and that otherwise it must just be me but I didn't buy that.
I went and asked my pharmacist and he said that about two hours after taking met (ESPecially if you have only a minor IR prob) it kicks in and your blood sugar plummets for a bit. Best thing to do is to take it and then about two hours later drink you a soda or for me b/c I cut out alll sugar and carby stuff I ate an orange or something similar. I managed to get mine all situated and I will tell you I had never felt better in my entire life!!!!

Now I have started school and it is really hard to "graze" healthily like I did during the summer so I am struggling again. I think it is because I can't eat gradually over time and my schedule keeps changing so I can't get on a routine. I'm sure a bit of diet cheating isn't helping either. I had forgotten about the B12. Since I started taking prenatals I had stopped taking them but I guess a little more won't hurt (I have the smallest dose B supplem. you can get so as not to get too much).

Most of it is trial and error from what I have learned but it gets better I promise!

Thanks everyone! I am going to try to eat a little more throughout the day and see if it works. I have been trying to eat, but once I start, it's like my appetite just disappears. I was on Met about 4 years ago when i was younger and naive and just took it whenever which caused HORRIBLE stomach cramps. Being more mature now and serious about this, I want to do as much as I can to stay on it!

i second the b-complex. it has made ALL the difference in the fatigue b/c of met. problem. Someone asked if b-12 is in a multi-vitamin..i'm sure it is, but taking an extra b-12 (b-complex) is suggested. it is IMPOSSIBLE to take too much b-12. What your body doesn't use, you just pee it out (neon pee so beware! LOL) i'd pick up a bottle and try it. It doesn't affect my stomach at all. And I take mine in the morning so i'll have energy throughout the day. GL.

i have another question. I was dx in July, since then I've been on Met (the usual 500mg/day up --no 2000mg/day) and I am on Femcon fe. On my 3rd week of the bc I thought I had breakthrough bleeding, dark spotting. (poas but neg) I'm not ttc so my doc put me on the pill. I spotted a few days, but still didn't see AF on my placebo pills. Now I am almost to the placebo pills on my second pack, do you think I will see af? I have not had it since feb this year. Thanks! This place is great.
