Default So upsetting!

Okay so maybe I'm just being extra sensitive but I'm really getting tried of hearing people's opinions of people with infertility issues. Mostly it's been men but they keep saying that people who have infertility issues have them because they aren't supposed to be having biological children. They say that they are infertile so that they can adopt. Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with adopting but at least for me I would like the experience of being pregnant and giving birth to a child. I just soo disagree with this idea that being infertile means that you shouldn't have children. I've taken the view that we struggle so that we can more appreciative of what we have. An example is my sister. My sister is pregnant right now and she is so crabby all the time about being pregnant because this wasn't a planned pregnancy and I keep thinking about how, yeah pregnancy is said to be uncomfortable, but I would so rather be in her shoes. I'd rather be pregnant and uncomfortable then not pregnant and doing all of this struggling.

I don't know if anyone else gets this but it feels so hurtful. I've been trying to let it go because the guy who said this to my husband and I didn't know we are TTC but what he said seem to be a very common feeling. Also it upset me because his wife was taking about how easy it was for her to get pregnant while breastfeeding, and on BCP. Okay sorry I'm done complaning.

One last thing. Has anyone used Clomid but not Metformin and O'd. I don't have my new insurance card and my pharmacy will not let me get my precription with my temp card, and it's really expensive if I pay the full price. Yet I've already been talking the Clomid so I'm not sure if taking the Metformin will help me O and then get a BFP. Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

And ironically, there is quite a movement out there saying that "adoption is wrong". I had no idea of this until I started reading the parenting section on Yahoo Answers. And there are still others out there screaming and moaning that people should not have biological children at all because it ruins the earth. So no matter what you do, some idiot out there is going to have a stinky opinion about it. You can't win, so just roll your eyes and know that the opinion spouted is worth exactly how much it cost - nothing.

People who haven't walked in the shoes of someone struggling with infertility should keep their mouths shut - they have NO.IDEA. what it's really like.

BTW, both Clomid and Metformin are supercheap at Walmart, even without insurance. Have you checked there?

I just changed to them too cause I was paying my copay (15$) at riteaid when its cheaper for Private pay at walmart..

GL, and who cares what other people say sometimes I do let it get to me and have said soemthing along the lines of well if thats the case why the h$ll were you able to be fertile...LOL Oh well say something rude and hurtfull before knowing a situation and they may get something back...LOL

I totally understand. My sister has said the most hurtful things to me before too.

As for the clomid and met you don't usually have to take both to O but sometimes it can help. There are lots of doctors who will not prescribe met because they don't understand how a diabetic medication can help with PCOs. You could start with clomid and see how it goes and go from there.

I know exactly how you feel! I've had someone say the exact same thing to me, before. Unfortunately dh's brother has some problems and he and his wife were unable to have kids. They adopted a 5 year old little girl and are VERY hard on her. They yell a lot and struggle a lot with her. Anyways, this person was talking about dh's brother saying there was a reason they weren't able to have kids of their own and they shouldn't have even adopted. I was floored!!! This person didn't know dh and I were ttc, but still. People can be SO insensitive!

As far as clomid, I have never used met with it, and have been very successful. And the others are right, some pharmacies will have it cheap. I pay $9 for 5 days of 50mg at a local drugstore.

Good luck!

You have a better chance of oing on clomid than met. My doctor put me on clomid so I would o and met tor regulate my insulin and hormones. Where are you buying your met? My insurance does not cover it but I only pay less than $20 for a 30 day supply (90 500mg pills) at Target most large chain pharmacies sell it as one of their cheap generics. My clomid (not covered) is only $18 for 10 50 mg pills.

or

geek1976, you said it right! Making such blanket statements is soooo stupid. There are lots of people out there that are fertile myrtles and abuse their kids terribly. What would those same ignorant people say to those people?.....

I have to admit I have struggled with this ideology quite a bit myself. I have wanted to be a mom since I could remember, and I seem to be the only one in a very large family who is actually having fertility issues. Sometimes I feel like I'm not met to-- like if we were animals, nature would not let me pass on my genes so is PCOS a fluke or is there a reason underneath it all? Is this a condition I was born to have, or is it partially environmental? I know it sounds silly, but I just question myself sometimes. BTW I def do not question anyone to pursues fertility aides, and I probably will myself because I long to have a child. I just wonder I guess... does anyone else or am I the only crazy one here?

Unfortunately, people do say the most ridiculous things. Some of our family told us too.. "why don't you just adopt, it's the noble thing to do" (I think it's great but I would also like the chance to have my own biological children) I think sometimes people mean well, but don't realize what they are saying is nonsensical in reality. I think eye rolling and walking away is a good strategy and i also think Geek has it right on.. Nothing like turning their asinine comments around on them.

I struggled with this so much. People with biological children would always get up on their pedestals and say how I should just give up TTC and adopt. I always would say (somewhat sarcastically), "WOW you must really love adoption, to forego having your own children like that to adopt." They inevitably say "Well...no, actually we didn't adpot, we wanted to have our OWN children" and I would say "Well then you know how I feel. Adoption is great but why should I be deprived of having my own and my husband's baby??" Even now when people bring up fertility issues (usually the "people who have trouble conceiving shouldn't be trying to have kids because obviously it wasn't meant to be" opinion), I tell them how I conceived, that my husband and I tried for ages, and then I tried 3 cycles of Clomid and conceived. I always say, "So my child shouldn't be alive and growing right now, all for the sake of one little pill?" That usually shuts them up because they realize how ridiculous they are being. No matter how it happens everybody should be able to try their hardest to have their own babies if they want them.

I ALMOST felt like telling this one woman..."Then why do you wear so much makeup? Clearly you were just MEANT to be ugly..." LOL but I figured that was taking it a bit far....

It's always the people that get pregnant super easy that say this. My dh's grandmother (has four children) is the most loving lady but broke my heart when she said if god wanted you to have children it would happen naturally. How can that be true? IVF can still not result in a pregnancy and thats going about as far as you can medically with TTC. Thats just like saying if god wanted you to live a long time he wouldn't have gave you this or that to shorten your life ...Who would need a Doctor if this was true the way she explained it. It's a medical problem and can be treated. Why am I chancing gods will with TTC medically but anyone else treating anything else is not? I've gotten lots of comments about what my family should do about growing our family. "Relax then it will happen" is one a heard way to many times to count. Not true I was way relax about TTC until it didn't happen for years and years. Now I'm getting "your children will be spaced to far apart and you have to start all over again" I never thought of having children as a job that was half way done because I already had a child. I had one friend that was getting her tubes tied and said I should have my done too because I would get unlucky and have a child when I was to old to care for it. Thanks friends!

I too get tired of people telling me relax, don't think about it don't try so hard, when you stop thinking about it it will happen. Or my favorite was when my boss told me the week before I was diagnosed with PCOS that I should be working out because she got pregnant when she started working out. I was already working out 5 days a week at least an hour a day for the past 9 months and had already lost 50 pounds!!! WTF!!! She knew I had been working out and had lost weight! Now when people start saying things like that I stop them and tell them that I have PCOS and what it is. I don't think it is anything to be ashamed of and maybe by telling people about it I can help someone else. I don't care who knows and I wish I had known about PCOS before I was 35. If someone judges you for treating your condition in the ultimate hopes of having a child just remember that God is the only one who can judge.
