Smile A solution that seems to work for me

Hi everyone, I'm new here but have been suffering from PCOS symptoms since I was 12. Finally after all my years I've finally found a regiment that doesn't make my acne worse. In my teens I use to have acne everywhere (all over my face, back, arms, chest, legs ) and nothing seemed to work. I was one bcp for a couple of years in university and it cleared up my back, chest and arms for the most part - which I'm thankful for.

I'm usually hestitant to buy new products to try since most are either too drying or extra oily, however on a whim I bought some 'Bio' face cleanser and cream (the hydrating formula even tho I have the oily T zone) from Bath and Body Works here in the States. I tried it for a couple of weeks and my acne cleared up. It didn't go completely away but its now under control - I usually only get 6-12 throughout the cycle and mostly just before my period.

Also I've tried crushed asprin (mixed with a few drops of water) on the stubborn pimples and have had some success with it. I dab it on and around the pimple before bed and its usually down in size by morning. The mixture is good at night because when it dries, it goes white (can't really use it during the day). Asprin contains some sort of acid that dries the pimples.

I've also done a 'cider vinegar' toner on my face. I liked the effect when I didn't have any irritated pimples on my face. It seemed to balance the oils and make my pores tighter. I had to stop because my acne started to flare up(due to AF) and my hubby didn't like the smell.

Hope this helps someone else.

Smile Thanks

Thanks Linny for your message on what helped you. I would never have thought of aspirin at all so may try it if i can get hold of it now. I find toothpaste and aftershave (dont tell my other half tho) are really good too. Like you i have been too scared to try any new products cos they dry your skin out and cause more eruptions!

You said you used Bio - i have never seen it over here (UK) so i was wondering if you have a web addy for it? or is it called biore as well? cos we do have that here.

Thanks in advance
Mizzy

Bio is a store brand for Bath and Body Works (its kinda like the Body Shop). I checked their website(http://www.bathandbodyworks.com) and at present you can't order stuff from there, but if you look under the FAQ there is a number to order stuff by phone.

Hope this helps. Linda

Aspirin is salycylic acid, and this is in fact what you will find as the "active ingredient" in many lotions and cleansers that claim to be skin-clearing. It's also the active ingredient in anything that says it uses "beta-hydroxy" (for example, Neutrogena Deep Clean).
