Default Some of the crap i deal with...

I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in august of 2003. Recently told I also have PCOS...which makes since cause i have a lot of the symptoms... so... i asked some of the women in my family....and one of my cousins has it too. She is freaking out...cause her doctor told her it's not a genetic thing...but obviously it is. Anyways... i get a LOT of migraines, well i did until recently... Did anyone else get those?? Well my doc put me on corgard...for high blood pressure and it has been a blessing!! Seriously! If you have migraines...it's caused by PCOS...and u can have high blood pressure sometimes because of it, so if u are on corgard... you are headache free. I thought i wanted to kill myself this past year because the migraines were SOOO bad. So i just want to let other cysters know what to do. Talk to your doc about it ok?? Anyways, i have some rough dry spots of skin...like on the back of my neck..and my knee...and my doctor said she didn't know of anything to puit on it to get rid of it... do u guys know what to do??? I am tired of feeling weird and self concious about it so please please help!! Thanks...

I too have some dry skin but only on my hands where everyone can see it. I am not sure what would work for you b/c everyone is different. I have tried tons of different lotions, even the expensive ones, and no luck. I recently did two things and my dry skin is nearly gone. I changed my dish soap to Dawn w/ bleach alternative(don't know if that was the remedy) and I started taking Spironolactone.http://www.cchs.net/health/health-in...asp?index=9228
So I am not sure what actually started to work but I know your frustration and hope you find something that works for you soon.

I always use a hand and body lotion with aloe vera in it and this helps me a lot with rough skin. Vaseline do a good reasonably priced one. Also, have you looked at the Burt's Bees range of products? It is quite hard to get them over here in the U.K. but I usually stock up on them whenever I travel to the States and I find them really good too.

Default thanks...

Well thanks for the suggestions. Is Spironolactone like Corgard, it's also for high blood pressure. My doc has me on that for my migraines. I am always lotioning up....HOPING that will work. I swear i read on some website that they make an antibiotic lotion to get rid of it. I dunno where i read it tho.. i wish there was just some miracle drug.... I mean, i don't have the rough skin that bad...thank god...but i notice it... i can feel it..i hate it!!! lol ok enough whining from me... hehe... Thanks again.....

I love the burts bees products. i know i found a great sample pack on drugstore.com for a pretty decent price.
also it may sound silly, but i have found that avon cracked heel relief is amazing on anything. i have the same problem with dry skin and nothing worked until then. and it has antibiotic stuff in it.
