Hi everyone =) I have a couple of questions. This past Friday I went to the gynecologist after having my period for 5 weeks. He diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on Yaz, Birth control. After doing some research and reading here I have to wonder if there's something else that needs to be done. I have always had irregular periods and while I was pregnant I gained 70 pounds. It has been 11 months and I've lost about 35 pounds. While I was pregnant they tested me for gestational diabetes and the test results came back negative. So, I wonder if this is something I need to be tested for again. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. The doc didn't explain anything to me and when I asked if the birth control would treat my problem he said yes. It seems to be that something else should be done. Thank you all for your support and advice!
For some women, BCP is enough to manage their PCOS symptoms. But most of us require more. Have you had bloodwork done? You should have glucose and insulin, cholesterol, and testosterone levels checked. There are a few more as well, but I cant think of them. Check the sticky threads at the top of this forum for more info. Good luck, and welcome to SC.
