I've been taking Glucophage since July. The only side effect I ever had was nausea and vomitting... NEVER a headache of any sort. Well this past week when I got my Rx refilled I got Metformin instead. I know it's technically the same thing (or thereabouts) but the past couple days or so I've had the strangest headache! It's not a typical headache... it's more of a here-one-minute-gone-the-next type of thing and it's not really an ache as much as it is just small areas on my head getting a strange feeling. Not really a tingling, but not an ache. It almost feels as if someone is right under my skin, tapping lightly. I don't know what the heck to make of this! I'm a hypochondriac (thanks to Nursing school) and I'm baffled. It seems to be mainly on the left top side of my head, but currently it's on the left side of the bridge of my nose!? Could just the difference b/w Glucophage & Met be causing this? It's not severe at all... just an annoyance, but I want to make sure everything's on the up and up!
im having kinda like pressure behind my eyes ive only took 2 doses of Met so i don't know if its the pollen count or the Met.........im swollen under my eyes also
I've been on met 7 days now and consisistently i've gotten a headache in the evenings. I've just tried to drink more water and be patient. I understand it has lots of side effects that improve with treatment, but i've you're very concerned a call to the Dr. or the pharmicist couldn't hurt. My local pharmacist was very helpfull, he seemed to know a lot about the medication and condition.
Go to your doctor. It doesn't sound good. I have had migranes since I was very young. You could be having a reaction to the meds. It is possible if you don't go in at least call and talk to the nurse and they will tell you.
I've had more headaches including a lot more migraines, visual and balance, than before but I'm still giving it a go. I would talk to your doctor though, if the generic causes you problems they can write "medically necessary" and get you the name brand. I don't know if mine is met related or not. I do know my doctors (neuro and pcp) said that pcos and migraines often happen together along with depression.
I think it may be sinuses and allergies because its really not a headache its more of pressure and my eyes look blue underneath them. like it does when you have a allergie flare up........ will call the pharmacy and ask tomorrow thanks guys!
