Default Something on my butt...

This is embarassing and I've asked my mom about it but I'm just wondering if anyone else has it. I seem to have a little piece of skin, kinda like a ball of skin, on my butt. right by the anus. It doesn't hurt and it's not a hemorhoid. My mom, a worry wart, told me not to worry and just ask my doctor when I get my next gyno exam. I don't know how long it's been there. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this.

I don't have an exact answer; it is kinda round about. I work at a daycare and have changed many kids in 3 years. We have one girl that seems to have what you are describing. We got her at a year old and she had that. I am guessing it is from birth. It is a little piece of extra skin right by the anus. (Her's kinda pointy not round.) It does not seem to bother her in any way.
I hope this helps you a little. (At least you know you are not alone.) I also hope the dr. tell you for sure. Let us know if you find anything out.

This may sound stupid but could it be a skin tag?

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that there is a chance it is what's called a skin tag, harmless little piece of extra skin that sticks out. You can get skin tags in lots of places on your body. I have one under my arm.

The bad news is that because you're saying it's rounded, even though it's on the outside, it still could be a hemorhoid. There are internal and external hemorhoids. There is also a way to have a hemorhoid without the typical side affects that you always see in commercials, burning, itching, etc. It can sit there for literally 20 years without affecting a single thing, except bother you mentally. Remember a hemorhoid is simply a piece of a blood vessel that has prolapsed into an area of very thin skin around the anus, causing a little ball, bump, or protrusion. Think of it like when you first start to blow up a baloon and you have that tiny little circle, that's about what most of them look like.

There's also a chance it's a cyst from like an infected folicle or pore, or even a boil maybe?

Your mother is right, just get it checked at your next gyn exam. Unless it gets larger, grows into an irregular shape, or changes in a major way, don't worry, if it does do any of these things, or become painful, check it out sooner as you wouldn't want to ignore it if it were some kind of tumor, although the odds of that are pretty darn slim.

Jen,
If you get recurrent cysts on your tushie, you may want to check out the info on Hidradenitis Suppurativa. That is an area it is known to affect. There is a link I posted in the Cyster Sites or you can email me or PM me for info.

Edit~~ After I posted the above message, I just wanted to pop back in after reading your signature portion that said your were IR and PCOS.In the HS community we are all now learning and agreeing together that there is a hormonal connection with HS. A kind of androgen sensitivity that makes us the way we are. There are a lot of great posts about this in that link I posted. Just search the archive under "hormones" or "PCOS".

This rounded tissue right next to your anus is something every single person in the world has. It's not abnormal at all and I'm pretty sure it's called your sphincter. (Did I spell that right?) Everyone has this! It's a natural part of your anatomy.

Hehehe, no this is not my sphincter! It's like an extra little ball. It really is like a skin tag but bigger. I want them to remove it regardless because it bugs me. Now I'm all self concious about a ball on my ass I didn't even used to know was there! I'm just worried that if they cut it off it'll get infected because it's so close to the hole! Argh. I did used to have an actual cyst on my tailbone that I had to have cut open. I think it was called a polynytal cyst. (I have NO idea how to spell that.)

Don't want to scare you, but it could also be a genital wart. These come from having the HPV virus. If not treated, they will spread and can increase your risks for cervical cancer. The good news is that they can easily be removed using acid or liquid nitrogen. I prefer the liquid nitrogen cause either choice hurts like hell when the procedure is being done, but the freezing doesn't leave a lingering pain like the acid does.
