I was just wondering if some one good explain to me the whole green bar thing which above it has the donate option and points and things like that. I know you get points for posts and threads because i see them go up each thread i reply to and i know u can use the points to buy gifts and ribbons which ihave done but. can some one just explain a little more please ...thanks in advance!!!

The green bar is called reputation. If you write a post that helps someone else, then they can give you rep (karma). The more rep you have, then the more points you have, and the more gifts and things you can buy for other people (or ribbons etc for yourself). You can also do other things with lots of points such as change your user name or change the colour of your username.
To give someone rep you click on the yellow circle (I think it looks like a chick) on the bottom left hand side of the post.
I will give both of you some rep now, look in your user control panel, and you can see who has given you rep.
So to summarise, the more helpful you are, the more likely you are to get more rep, which means more points!
