Default Sore on Breast - TMI

About 1 1/2 weeks ago I was laying in the bed and my right breast started to itch. When I went to scratch the side where it was itching I ended up scratching some skin off. I was not expecting a bump of any type I just thought I had an itch. When I scratched the skin off I noticed there was a bump there. Well now I have a round spot that is infected and has a whole in the middle of it. I can tell it's getting infected because of the reddening around it. I have been cleaning it daily. Tonight I could tell it had Gunk (sorry tmi) in it so I cleaned it out and it just still looks terrible. I'm wondering if maybe it's a bite since it's perfectly round.

I go the the Dr on Monday so I figure if it's still there I will mention it to him. Now I have cleaned it and put some Vitamin E on it.

Any ideas of what to do with it? I want this thing to go away.

Thanks for any help!!!

I dont mean to scare you or anything but there was a post about 1 week ago about sores on the breast and what the post was talking about is that there is a silent breast cancer out there that causes sores on breasts and usually it is not detected until stage 4. I am sorry I dont remember the title of the post but maybe someone out there remembers.

I had a sore similar to this about a month ago. It turned out to be a hair follicle which got infected or something like that. Mine kind of looked like a boil. I put warm compresses on it and it eventually drained. I just kept it really clean and covered with neosporin and a band aid. I was freaking out about the silent breast cancer that the above poster mentioned, but that form of cancer is apparently SO rare, according to my sister who is a nurse. Hope it turns out ok for you!

Thanks you guys. I am thinking it's not cancer however I do go the Dr on Monday to be re-tested for cancer. I have to be tested every year for it since I have had cancer before and the last test I had done came back with elevated #'s. The Dr seems to think that I just had an infection at the time of the test but he just wants to be sure. I'm planning on talking to him about this sore as well now that you guys have mentioned this. Everytime I do a breast exam it freaks me out. I always feel things. I hate even doing it but I still go ahead and check. I don't know how you call it but I have the type of breasts that always feel like lumps are in them. It makes me wonder how I could ever tell what's real and what's not.

Thanks...and I'll keep you posted!!

Oh ya. Can you let me know where that thead was so I can read it??

Yeah, I know what you're talking about...fibrocystic breast disease...my gyno told me that I had this at my first exam. I freak out everytime I do a self exam, too. I'm a complete hypochondriac, though!

I have a similar lump that comes up occassionally on my breast. I just assume its a hair follicle getting irritated by one of my bras. If its infected I'd put an antiseptic cream on it and get to your doctor if you're worried. I want to mention mine to my doctor but it takes forever to get an appointment through the student health system and the lump tends to disappear before I can get in to see the doctor! Grrr!

My mother inlaw has inflammatory breast cancer and she also complained of itching and soreness of her breast. So I would definately get it checked, especially if there is already a history of other kinds of Cancer.

Thanks you guys. Last night I kept cleaning it out and before going to bed a put a loose compress on it so that it would not be skin on skin since it's on the bottom of my breast. It looked like maybe it's drying up. I'm going to keep cleaning it several times a day. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I hope it's nothing either but of course I'm going to worry about that.

Thanks for the thread. I'm going to check that out now.

I'll keep you all posted!!!

Thankfully this thing has almost completely gone away. I cleaned it everyday and kept a band-aid on it.

Thanks for all the advice!!
