I've had hidradenitis and I've had ingrown hairs, there's a huge difference for me.

Hidradenitis doesn't respond well to antibiotics, and appears to be more of a cyst than a pimple. I have the brown spots too, and I'm as white as they get.

Well I've been off spiro for about 6 months and just got my first HS outbreak. But it wasn't nearly as bad as they used to get.

Well best of luck with educating your doctors.

    Default bumps

I had a problem similar to the one you are all describing but found that once I moved from hot-hot-hot central Texas, the problem went away. I had a friend who got them also and she referred to them as heat bumps (cysts). Maybe she is right because I live in a very cold area with mild summers now and have not had them since.

    Oh they were annoying!

I know that cleaning gently but daily is important, and I found that wearing a slip that was like shorts helped keep my thighs from rubbing (which I know added to the problem).

    Best luck!

I also just wanted to mention that another thing some of the women could be describing is sebastious(SP?) cysts. It is common with women with PCOS and in the regions you were describing basically the only difference between this and HS is that with HS has tunnels that connects cysts. The sebastious cysts are boil like also and leave the scars as well , they can be very painful also. Hope this info helps.

Default re: tunnels - sebacious glands

Hi, all. Taah mentioned sebacious cysts. I think that may be yet another label for H.S.? The reason I say that is because HS causes "cysts" (boil-like bumps) usually occur in areas where you have sebacious sweat glands (groin, arm pits, behind the ears) and the H.S. cysts can develop "tunnels" called sinus tracts. Unfortunately, I know that from experience. Onc cyst that I have had off and on for many many years has now developed a tract. Warning...this is gross.....now when it is inflamed and I press on it the discharge (blood, etc.) comes out of another spot about an inch away. The tracts usually develop in more severe cases of H.S.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. It does help to know we're not alone.

The only thing that worked for me was getting my PCOS under control. This symptom went away along with most of the others or at least to a manageable level. Warm compresses, eliminating situations creating perspiration, and cleanliness seem to help the healing process. I also would immediately start a zinc regimen to help with the healing time.

    Default Skin Creams

I was recently given 3 different types of preparations for skin problems.
The one for my face was compounded to address some flakey red places by my nose that was continually red and bothersome.
One of the ingredients in the compound was Micatin.
I looked up Micatin and found that it was the same stuff used in monistat.
I also began to notice that some of the dark sports on my face began to fade when I used the compounded cream for my face that contained the micatin.
I went out and bought an OTC box of generic monistat.
I've been using the cream on my dark sports.
It has changed my skin almost over night.
It's not perfect but so much better and beyond anything I could have hoped for.
previously I have had good discoloration fading with alphahydroxy
but the micatin/monistat works best and seems to last longer.
I too have the spots on my lower back and glutes and between my shoulder blades.
    Those are looking better too,
Has anyone ever had any thing like this happen with an anti fungal like micatin?
It has turned out to be a very big surprise for me.

My docter had me take some pills that just king of made the redness go down but in just a few weeks they hurt again. I gave up till now.

I tend to get either bloody great pimples or small boils on my crotch area, especially during hot weather and during my period. They're not a major problem, and I figured that they are due to the pore-clogging effects of the time of monnth and to wearing pads for an extended period, plus the chafing effect from underwear... it can't be a very healthy environment down there just then! I occasionally get them under my armpits or under my bra-strap, or most annoyingly on my rear!

Anyway, I've always had them and I wouldn't call them anything to get worked up about, but my mother just had an absess and I mentioned that I get them and she's like 'oh, that can't be a good thing!" So I guess they're just another symptom to lay at the PCOS door?

Sometimes I'll get what looks like a huge "pimple" on my inner thighs near my groin, but it is REALLY big (like a dime) and fades away after about a week or two, and is dark in color instead of pink like a zit. I assumed they were from my extra weight, from "rubbing" thighs. Once, when I was in my late teens, I had one that had a huge amount of puss come out, and I have had one just like it under my arm--both were years ago, went away, and I have not seen the "puss" filled ones since.

I still don't know what they were, thank goodness they are rare for me.
