Default sorry if this ? is too personal

but i have noticed that a lot of people have said that Met has helped them loose a lot of weight....i have been on met for 10 weeks and have not lost even 1 lousy pound....how much did you or do you weigh after the met?

i am 4'9" and weigh 127lbs i don't think i'm obese but i am slightly over weight.....just curious...and you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable!

I have been on met for over a year now... when I first started taking it I lost almost 10 lbs within the first month... I am still waiting for the other 40 lbs to disappear... unfortunately I am not experiencing anymore loss. I eat the same and remain the same damn weight. I hear about others like me... like the met stops having an effect on you after awhile...

I am seeing a Nurse Practioner in my local OBGYN's office. She has taken a special interest in PCOS and really appears to be more knowledgable than somee of the docs and specialists that I have heard about.

I went back for my eight week check up and to get my liver function results last Friday. I have lost 8 pounds and this is what she told me.

She does not look for a good weight loss until your body gets regulated on the new meds. She was very pleased with my 8 lbs because she has seen some that don't loose until the 6th month. She reminded me that it took 32 years to get where I am and It would take more than 8 weeks to get everything straightned out. She was very happy with my test results as my triglicerides have come down some and my good cholesterol is now in the normal range!!! She told me to be paitent for these first 6 months because my body is trying to process all of the changes. I am on Lopid, BCP. Multivitamin, Effexor XR, and Gloucaphage XR 1500.

I think sometimes we get too worried about the scale. (I know I do anyway). I have only lost 8 pounds but it has all come from my "apple" in the middle and my cholesterol is looking better so I think I am on the right track. I just have to remind myself daily that it takes time.

Just wanted to share what she said with you.

I have been taking 2000mg glucophage steady for 6 months now, it took me an additional 3 months in the beginning to work myself up to that dose. In this time I've lost 26 lbs. I plateau'd at the 18 lb mark for a few months before recently losing the last 8.

Hi,
I just thought I'd add my two cents in! I have been on met now for almost 12 weeks starting at 1000mg, then 1500mg and now 2000mg. I lost 10lbs in the first two weeks but nothing else since then. I'm a pretty normal build 5'2 and 125lbs but I would love to shed another 10-15lbs. to fit into the clothes I wore before I went off the pill for TTC'ing. I came off 7 months ago and gained almost 20 lbs in about 2 months. Before I was diagnosed with PCOS my doc just told me that I should watch what I eat if I didn't want to gain weight.
I'm not too worried about the wieght though the met is helping me O again and that is all I can ask for! I'll worry about the weight after we have a baby.

Cheers,
Henrietta
