I booked myself a gynae appointment for the 27th of this month... the hospital moved it forward to the 11th.... I have a horrible feeling I am about to come on my period soon which means I will be on when I have my appointment... wil I have to cancel? I have never been to a gynae before so I don't know whether they are going to do an ultrasound or need to look up there.... please help!!!!

I would personally reschedule but that's just me. I know people still go when they have their period but I would feel even more uncomfortable and going to the Gyno is uncomfortable enough. ;-)

I would cancel the appointment and make it for another time when I wasnt on my period but its up to you Lilly go with what ever makes you feel more comfortable.
If you need a pap (which if you've never been, you'll prob. need one) my gyno always told me to come when i was NOT having AF and to not have sex 24 hours before the appointment. According to her those could affect the results? i dunno. If it isn't heavy and you aren't embarrased there shouldn't be a problem. just call the nurse line and say your appointment got pushed forward and you will possibly be having your mensus while there and see what they suggest. couldn't hurt ya know? good luck

If you're going to have a Pap smear, you shouldn't be bleeding at the time. Otherwise, I doubt it matters whether you're having your period or not. My doc did an ultrasound on me while I was still bleeding and he said it doesn't affect the results.
I know it can be a bit awkward. No harm in rescheduling if you're uncomfortable.

I've had some GYN's that don't care and others that say to reschedule. I would just call and talk to the receptionist or a nurse. If you are really uncomfortable going when you have AF you can reschedule.
I've gone while I had mine a couple times because appointments were hard to work into my schedule and when I called they said it didn't matter.

I actually started my period when I went to give a urine sample for a pregnancy test! I went back to the room and she asked how heavy it was. If it wasn't that heavy of a flow she would be able to do it. I prefered to reschedule. You could always call to speak with a nurse and ask what they would prefer if you personally don't mind.
