Default Soy and Breastfeeding?

I just posted this over in another forum, probably should have just put it here, but is soy safe while breastfeeding? I can't really find anything on it! Thanks a bunch!

Do you mean is it safe for you to eat soy products? Answer - more than likely.

Or do you mean is it safe to try the soy-as-clomid thing? I would expect the latter to be safe from the baby's standpoint but not so likely to work from your angle - breastfeeding tends to suppress ovulation. Depending on how old your baby and how much you are nursing, though, this may or may not apply. I'd think if your baby is older and nursing not so much, you would be more likely to respond, vs. having a younger baby who is nursing a lot. But then of course you get into another issue of estrogen issues and pregnancy drying up breastmilk...

I mean the soy as clomid thing!
Here's my info...
I'm on my 3 PPAF, and haven't O'd once. My lil' guy is almost 17 months and bf's 3 times a day (sometimes more when he's teething).
So, what do you think... is it safe while BF'ing?
Thanks a bunch!

Ah.

3 PPAFs at 17 months PP - that's pretty good. 14 months is average for periods to return, or so I hear...

Is he nursing at night yet? Some times it is night nursing that makes the big difference. Once my baby dropped to one feed a night that is when my periods came back - but they were all screwed up and I don't know if I was O'ing... not paying too close attention, not TTC - just thrilled that woo hoo, 3 in a row, regular!!! Then the 3rd one didn't want to end...

Anyway... at 17 months I'd say give it a try. I have heard of ladies who took clomid while nursing and it was successful. The biggest drawback, really, is what happens with your hormones - it can affect your supply, and then pregnancy of course dries some people up altogether, but at 17 months, it's not a huge deal, so long as you are OK with it. He's able to get enough nutrition from other sources that this isn't a problem from that standpoint. Comfort is another issue but to be honest... I weaned my son at 14 months... I thought he'd be devastated... he took it very well. He took it a little too well, really... it was rather insulting.

Personally I think you'll be fine.

Hmm... so maybe I should give it a go... My cycles are totally wacky, always have been, probably always will be! I usually go for 80 or so days during a cycle... ugh! He still nurses quite a bit and usually at least once during the night, especially since right now we are in the swings of teething.

I'd give it a try. It's really not likely to hurt - but it may not work. Have you used it before? It worked for me once but never again. Clomid and femara don't work for me, either - I actually wonder if the time it "worked" it was really just coincidence. I took it coming off BCP... maybe I'd have O'd anyway.
