Default Is soy good for PCOS?

Hi, Girls

I'm new to this site. I was diagnosed w/ PCOS about 2 yrs ago. My question is: Is soy good or bad for women w/ PCOS? I've heard many times soy is good for most women of child-bearing age, but because of the plant estrogens, I'm thinking it may not be good for us soulcysters... Does anyone know?

Thank you!
C.

I have heard many woman try soy instead of clomid. They use it like they would clomid.

I will move this to the alternative remdies forum. I think you will have better luck over there.

Goodluck.

I've gotten conflicting advice on soy. Dr. Lee (the NPC balance your hormones guy) thinks too much soy is not a good idea because of the phytoestrogens.

Also, soy can be very allergenic and even toxic if it's not properly prepared. That's why there's such an art to making tofu.

Basically, the advice my naturopath gave me was to eat as much soy as I like, as long as it was good quality soy - i.e., in organic tofu. He said especially to stay away from the GMO highly processed soy you get in soy bars, a lot of soy protein powders, etc. Kind of precautionary, but it makes sense to me.

I read that the only soy products that are OK to eat are fermented ones.

Yes, there is a lot of conflicting info on soy, but personally, I think the arguments against outweight those for it, especially in our situation.

I personaly have found that stopping soy has reduced my PMS and mood swings alot. I now drink almond milk or oat milk, witch seems to be fine with me. I would experiment with soy to see how it reacts with you..then you'll know.
