Question Soy And Hypo ????

So I've been reading on the alternative therapy thread that soy really really helps ovulation and thigns, and so obviously I want to try it. BUT, and there is also a but, a lot of ladies have posted saying it's not good for women who are hypothyroid and have even posted some very informative links.

Well as some of you know i'm hypo, and I was just wondering if any of you other ladies who are hypo have taken soy, and if it had any effect. I will only be taking small doses for 5 days, and I so badly want to have a regular cycle. What am I to do. I have an appointment with a specialist to have prescribed clomid, but in October, sooooo far away, and I wanted to try this whilst waiting.

Any of your thoughts are appreciated...

I really wanted to try it also, but I've read it too many places that soy inhibits the absorbtion of thyroid hormones. So, I limit my soy. I just have veggie burgers sometimes, but that's it.

Hi leakat - don't know if you've seen this article -

http://www.darklock.com/shena/pcos/phytoestrogens.html

but it explains why we have to be careful about the amount and type of soy we eat, people with thyroid problems more than most. The good news is that small doses seem to work well...

Good luck!

Thanks Layla, that kind of helped me make my decision, I'll be taking 30mg a day for 4 days a month. Shouldn't do too much harm

All of my dr's have told me soy is a big no no, as it messes with your thyroid and thus our chances to conceiving.

I am going to ready that article though .. dr's are sometimes wrong.
