Has anyone heard of a child being allergic to milk and eggs, then getting over that allergy and now allergic to soy milk that she has been drinking all the time that she was allergic to milk? She has no reaction when drinking the soy milk now. I dont know please let me know if you have heard of this.
I don't know that actual facts, but my Mom experienced the same. She drinks only soy mike now. I think she was more lactose intolerant, eggs also bothered her.
Babies are often intolerant of cow's milk protein and soy milk protein. Soy in large quantities is noy great for babies/kids, anyway. Rice milk might be something to try. We get it at our regular grocery store.
Here's some info from another thread I started recently on a similar topic... concerns about soy
My son has a milk allergy and drinks soy milk. Most kids do grow out of the milk allergy. I do know that some kids are also allergic to soy too. With allergies, even adults you can eat something for years and then develop an allergy to it. If she can drink milk now, then why worry about the soy milk?

I work with children and feeding, so can say for sure that many children experience allergies that come and go- Often children "grow out of" allergies, while others can come about what feel suddenly- often children have slow intolerances that you might not notice (upset stomach, ear ache, runny nose, low fever, etc- things they probably can't tell you or are SO common that anything could have caused it). the nutritionist I work with often suggests re-trial of food intolerances after 6 months- NOT to be confused with children who have significant allergies- If your child can't breathe and turns blue after eating dairy, No, don't try it, but if it is an intolerance (upset stomach, red blotches, or diarrhea) try again, it may have resolved some. Hope this helps!

Oh, while I'm on this note I'll add in: Other "milks" are available if your child is allergic to dairy and soy- such as rice, almond, etc....but be very careful to pay attention to calorie/fat content: Most of those other "milks" do NOT contain the nutrition of cow's milk or soy milk and some young children I work with have "accidently" become malnourished because their parents didn't realize it.

Wow, I have never heard of that--I had to have soy formula when I was a baby. Then my parents thought I grew out of it and made me drink cow's milk every day when I was a kid. Turns out that I now have lactose sensitivity that developed about three years ago. Now I drink soy milk.
I have to agree with BonnieBoo. There's tons of research and new finding about how bad any soy products are for you. Years ago, it was suggested that soy was good. It is actually suggested that no woman of reproductive age ingest any type of soy product (regardless if she's trying to conceive or not). I've also read research on PCOS that it seems there's a higher incidence of PCOS beginning in teen girls that were given soy as a baby, verses the girls that were not given soy. There was even a thread about that on here a few months ago.
Back on topic, when I was younger I always had stomach issues if I drank regular milk. My doc said that I was Lactose Intolerant. My mom bought Lactaid for me. It is real milk, but is lactose free. It can be found in any supermarket. Through the years, I've "grown out" of my lactose intolerance. I now drink regular milk 1%.
