Hi ladies! Do any of you add water to store bought spaghetti sauce? My gma does and I never have. Just wondered if I was the only one?
I don't because it gets too watery. It doesn't grab onto the pasta. I do add a little sugar and splend if it is too acidic though.

You just add enough water to get the rest of the sauce out of the jar, not a whole jar full of water....that would definitely make it way too watery.
HA~! that is EXACTLY what i do. Just put enough water to get the rest of the sauce off the walls of the can...LOL too funny. I used to add sugar to my spaghetti but don't anymore b/c i eleminated all table sugar from my diet.

You could chop up carrots really small and add it to the sauce for sweetness instead of sugar.

I only add water if it's been simmering a long time (like all day) and has gotten too thick.
I grew up in a home where pasta sauce wasn't ready unless it had cooked for an entire day, though 2-5 days was preferrable. I cheat and start with store bought sauce sometimes, adding my own stuff (like herbs, garlic, carrot, etc) and let it go all afternoon.

I also add just a little water to swish around in the bottle of sauce to get the sauce off the bottom or on the sides of the jar. My MIL adds ketchup to her sauce if she tries to stretch it for more sauce.
