Default spearmint tea experimental!

Hi Ladies,

I'm hoping to find as much as information about spearmint tea.
there are so many articles and a few studies on the tea, however I haven't seen anyone posted their results good or bad here.
I tried spearmint tea about 2 months ago,I also started saw palmetto 2 weeks later but I discontinued after taking only 19 pills.
while I didn't see any immediate changes,a month later I did notice my facial hair got lighter, my body hair decreased alot.dark hairs around my nipples and some randomone on my chest didnt grow after plucking.it did give me a good result ,well although I'm not sure which one it was a month of drinking spearmint tea or 19 pills of saw palmetto.
however my scalp hair started to fall out crazy about 200 a day.
so now my body hair has returned and my facxial hair even though its still blonde they are thicker ,I wanna try spearmint tea again but I'm affraid if that was the cause of my hair loss.
also my mom is 47 and has pcos her main problem is facial hair, she did try spearmint tea for2 weeks and she's noticed few very long blonde hair under her chin.(which she never had)

I was wondering if anybodyels had any success or side effects from spearmint tea
thanks

I tried spearmint a year ago but I think I gave up too early. I started again about a month ago and this time I'm determined to be more consistent because I'm desperate to find some natural remedy for my facial hair that has been getting worse lately. I'm 47 and in premenopause so this might be the reason why my facial hair seems uncontrollable. I also started to take red raspberry tincture and ground flaxseeds. If I see any improvement, I'll update.

well I dont think spearmint would do that I'm convinced that saw palmetto was the main cause of my hair loss.the it does block dht however it also has some anti estrogen effects too.so if you have normal to low estrogen levels it would def works against you.
I see people here that had success with it but not to mention that most of them are calssic pcos case with weight issue.my understanding is their have too much estrogen due to fat so sawpalmetto would be beneficial for them.
on the other hand if you have low to normal estrogen it would cause hair loss.
thats what happened to me.its too bad cause I had great results for body hair but also I was losing my hair too.

Thanks so much for mentioning this! My husband read an article about the benefits of saw palmetto and I was thinking about trying it. Now I know not to get the one with nettle root.

Also, I was surprised to learn from the article you posted that soy decreases SHBG and that SHBG soaks up the male horomones. I need all the SHBG I can get! No more soy for me! To think, all this time I thought I was eating healthy by eating soy products.

I'm going to try topical spearmint tea leaves,I just found some posts on hair site ,the guy was using peppermint oil on his beard and it reduced the hair.

has anybody used it as topical yet?

http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss/fo...st_answer.html

I fear that peppermint oil might also do something long-term harmful to hair (I hope Im wrong about that), but so many Revita users (has two menthol extracts in it) were so dissapointed, that it makes me wonder. When I experimented with peppermint oil/water on my beard hair, it reduced the beard on the right side of my chin at three months profoundly as compared with my left......................and it has taken a long time to rebound and still hasn't completely rebounded a year later. Makes me wonder.

That's interesting about nettle. I know it stops the conversion of free t to dht, perhaps that's why free t levels appear to rise.

I recently tweaked my regime and went from a saw palmetto supp with nettle root in it, to a straight saw palmetto supp. and have noticed recently that my facial hair seems to be slowing down along with my shedding. I've done a number of other tweaks too, and this change is just very recent (so who knows how temporary) but that nettle post has me wondering. At any rate, I'm not going to take any chances by going back to it for the moment.

How can you use speaamint topically? I think the tea isn't strong enough to have an effect if applied topically whereas the oil is too strong and might burn your skin. Does anyone have a clue on this?

I'm going touse the tea leaves first but if you want it stronger use the essential oil, however you needto mix it with carrier oil like avocado oil or almond.
I usually mix my oils with avocado oil

Are you going to make tea from the leaves and than apply it on your skin? Excuse me for asking so many questions but I'm desperate to try anything that would slow the hair down.

no worries we are all here to experiment...actually me and my mom both are doing this.
she drinks 2 cups of tea and I just use the tea bags.I may try the oil later.
I'm going for another blood test next cycle ,I don't want it to interfere..
just make a compress out of tea bags...I'm trying it on my chest before using it on the face.

just to let you know my hirsutismis not much although I have hair below my belly botton and some on my chest.also my body is very sensitive to any kind of hormone stimulator,I would stick to leaves first.

update:
its been one week I'm using spearmint leaves as a topical, the plucked hair on my chest hasn't grown back yet and the dark fine hair around them are so weak that I just pulled them by hand.
I'm going to try the essential oil I bought today.I'm still cautious using it on my face though.

Wow! That sounds promising. How long do you keep the teabags on your skin?

I have bad hair on my chin and I would do anything to make it grow more slowly, no matter how messy it is, so I might give this a try. I have been drinking the tea for about a month now and I think that I plucked less these days but I think it is too early to tell whether it will have an effect or not. Anyway, I'll update about the result.
