Default Spearmint tea and hormones...

In this weeks Woman's World mag, there is a snipet about women drinking spearmint tea to reduce levels of excessive hair and acne producing hormones. Might be worth investigation.

aparantly it reduces androgens but i think you have to drink quite a bit of it. another good herb is saw palmetto i have bought some but not trying it yet as i have been put on spiro and using vaniqa.

I Googled it and the articles all said that the partcipants drank 2 cups over 5 days with lower androgen levels after the 5 days, it only mentioned mild hirsutism but it sounds like something worth a try, thanks for the info.

I read about this about a month or so ago and I have been drinking a large cup of spearmint tea every morning. Not sure if my results are real or wishful thinking but I have noticed slightly less chin hairs. I have a few sporadic hairs that grow on my chin and neck but they appear to have lessened.

This is interesting! I think iced spearmint tea sounds like a great summer drink. Think I'll pick some up this weekend & try it out.

That's what I wonder...I could only find "Plantation Mint" at the store which ended up being spearmint and black tea.

If it were me, I'd get the pure stuff. If you live near a Whole Foods, they carry it.

I found pure spearmint tea in a local neighborhood market that caters to the Hispanic community. The package is small (8 tea bags) but it was only $0.69 The company is Miravalle Foods of El Monte, CA (not sure if I'm allowed to give out the phone # too though.

OK, the # is on the back of the pkg. So the info is Miravalle Foods in El Monte, CA (626)575-7551

The tea is labeled in english and spanish - Te de Yerbabuena (or spearmint tea) And it is deliciously refreshing as iced tea!

Hmm, is there any connection between spearmint tea helping excess hair, and Spironolactone tasting like spearmint? I wonder if Spironolactone has spearmint in it??

I found some organic spearmint tea over the weekend at my Wild Oats store. A little more $ than I had planned on spending, but cheaper than a prescription!

It's really very good & something easy to fix here at work. I just steeped one cup for 5-10 minutes, poured it over a big glass of crushed ice, added a squirt of lemon & a dash of stevia. Very refreshing! Now if it will only give me as good a result on the hair issue!

Trader Joe's has good Spearmint tea. I steep 6 bags in 4" of almost boiling water for about 10 min in the bottom of a pitcher. Then I squeeze the bags out, toss them, and add cold water to the top. It's nice to have it all made up in the fridge for whenever you want a cold glass of tea.
