I came across this article on BBC which suggests that drinking spearmint tea may decrease excess androgens and hence help with hirsutism. It may also increase several female hormones including FSH.
I posted the article on the diet and exercise forum and then i later realized that i should have posted it here.

Ok, I am willing to try drinking spearmint tea.... but where do I find it? I don't think my local health food store carries it. I know that Celestial Seasonings carries peppermint tea, and their "Sleepy Time Tea" has spearmint along with chamomile in it. Any name brands for me to be looking for until I can grow some in my garden?
God bless you and yours
Debbie
I too am searching for Spearmint tea. Thanks for the suggestions. I too am willing to try it. If u come across anything do let me know. I will if I find anything. I have found spearmint leaves in my local grocery stores. But am still thinking about it.
Take care.
Have a great day.

Ok ladies:
I "googled" the word spearmint tea and came up with some interesting results. I found several articles that were taken from the same original sources as the above mentioned article. I also found a couple of sources for spearmint tea. This one is from NOW foods. I have used their products in the past and have always had great results from their company. I was able to use their store locator and there are several stores near me that I can check at for this tea. Here is their link: http://www.nowfoods.com/?action=itemdetail&item_id=3290
I also found this company: http://www.adagio.com/herbal/spearmint.html
Their prices seem great and their shipping looks good too. If I cannot find it locally, then I may order from them. HTH!
God bless you and yours
Debbie
Look hard in your local supermarket: After carefully scanning, row by row, I found three different brands (sorry--I don't remember what they were); one was straight spearmint, one was a black tea-spearmint blend, and the other was a chamomile-peppermint-spearmint blend.
Tasneem--I see you're in Houston...I found those three kinds at HEB.
Hears the water, i found the same link adiago.com just yday. This site seems pretty reliable too.
La Blanca, thanks for the HEB suggestion. I'll be sure to check it out there. Also today I plan to go n check it out at Kroger near my place. So are u willing to try out Spearmint tea?
edit:- I just came back from Kroger and got a spearmint-peppermint blend. If I have 2 cups everyday it'll last 10 days. So I'll just start taking this until I get spearmint tea hopefully by next week.
Take care everyone.

Yeah, I think I am going to give the tea a shot. Can't hurt! From my past research into herbs and their uses, I know that peppermint is great for your energy levels (I used to drink it in the mornings, but did not give it to my kids!) and will cause you to sweat which is why it has been used historically to break a fever. Now, spearmint is used in blends for sleeping, so I would imagine that it is calming... sounds like you blend will balance each other out tasneem. Spearmint might help with my nerves, so I am going on a tea hunt tomorrow! I will let y'all know what I find...Can you tell me what brand it was that you bought Tasneem?
God bless you and yours
Debbie

I bought the box of pure spearmint last weekend when I found it. I'm going today to get one of the blends because, although I love pure peppermint tea, I don't care so much for the spearmint.
Hears the water, its Bigelow Mint Medley. It has spearmint leaves, peppermint leaves, rose hips, lemon peel n hibiscus. well after what u said, I really need to do more research on the individual effects of spearmint and peppermint. I will get to doing that over the week.
la Blanca, yes I've read many reviews like that on the internet too about peppermint and spearmint. But do u intend to continue with spearmint for the effects that were stated in the article? But I'm thinking even if u do decide to take it, u wouldnt know the difference would you 'cuz ur on clomid?
Take care.

Hey guys! At WalMart, I found Plantation Mint tea made by Bigelow. It says Tea - fresh and flavorful with natural spearmint leaves. There are 20 teabags in the box and I think that it cost me about $2.50. Now, I have a question, can we put honey in it for flavor?
Saspeabody32--I believe that is the one that is a black tea-spearmint blend, isn't it? I would assume that you might not get the total effects of just spearmint...not sure, though. Regardless, I can't imagine that adding honey would have any kind of adverse effect as far as the benefits go.
Tasneem--Why do you think that taking Clomid would impede the excess-hair-combatting effects of spearmint? Is there something I missed in the article?
