Question Specialist Question

I am sure this has been asked before, but what can I expect at my first specialist meeting? Will they do a pap again? Or ultrasound? I was diagnosed with pcos in March from my regular obgyn who then sent me to a specialist. And, they could not see me till now. And, once again I am scared to death at what is going to happen today! HELP!

Don't be nervous Just explain to the specialist the symptoms you are experiencing and he/she should have your chart from your referring doctor so she/he will go from there. Every dr deals w/ patients differently (as you can see on this board), so I can't tell you what will/will not happen. My guess is any ultrasounds will be scheduled separately (usually they make you drink a bunch of water beforehand, etc...). Take a list of questions with you about PCOS, treatments, etc.

Always feel free to post questions on the board afterwards!

Good Luck and let us know how it goes

My first meeting with my RE for TTC was very relaxing. I had an ultrasound and bloodwork ordered. We talked about my husband's semen analysis and about my ovaries looking all screwed up form PCOS. We talked about our plan of action. Because we went to the RE for TTC, he also did a pap. But all doctors are different, and my visit with him was geared around TTC and I don't know if you are or not. I wouldn't worry though, they don't do anything too invasive. Well, I don't consider internal ultrasound invasive, they are a piece of cake! Good Luck!

I went to the specialist and so far they have done both external and internal ultrasounds. DH and I are ttc. He is also putting me on clomid along with my met. I have an appt in two weeks which will tell me what the results of the ultrasound are.

When I initially called the specialist and told him what I was coming in for - they had me come in two weeks prior to my visit with him to do my labs and a pap/ultrasound. Then when I went in to speak with the Dr. it was very relaxed. He met me in a meeting room instead of a patient room and just spoke to me about what was going on with my levels and what our plan of action was going to be.

I hope it goes well for you!!!

I sure hope that is how the next appt goes for me. I am going to go and get some books. This is all just so confusing to me!
