Default Spermicide condoms after miscarriage

Alright ladies, I have another question!

Had my dr appt today (I'll update everyone tomorrow, right now, I am wicked sleepy) and one of the things that he told me is that he doesn't want me to get PG for at least another 3 months to allow my body time to recover from the anemia and be at its best to grow a baby.

Anyhoo, having the all-clear to do those lovely marital things a week before I thought we'd be allowed to, I jumped the gun and bought some condoms, which I haven't bought in years. When I got home, I looked at the box and realized that they've got spermicide on them.

Has anyone ever heard of a reason why spermicide might not be good right after a miscarriage?

Well... personally, I don't believe spermacide is a good thing EVER. In the past, if we used spermacide condoms, I would invariably get yeast infections. When I tried a diaphram (which requires spermacide) I got a nasty case of bacterial vaginosis. Turns out, spermacide is extremely irritating to tissues and can create multiple sites for infection to take hold, enter the body, etc.

I believe there was a study where they found using spermacidal condoms increased the spread of STDs.

I just think it's bad news. It doesn't improve the safety of the condom by very much and it just creates irritation.

eta - on the other hand, some people have no issues with it. Have you used it in the past? Were there problems?

RunnerDuck - We've used them in the past. The first time, it caused some irritation, but ever since then, none. Of course, it's been about 2 years since we've used any condoms (HELLO BCP - which I am not gonna TOUCH right now).

I didn't even look at the package when I bought it. I didn't know that make so many different ones! DH used to buy them, but while we were out with my sister, he didn't get my coded hints that I wanted him to buy any, so I got him and sis to go off someplace else while I went to find them. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the box that I realised that spermicide might not be so good.

Maybe I'll just have him go get some regular(?) ones. It's not like we'll be using them anytime soon, because I'm still bleeding. *sigh*

My doctor doesn't want me to get PG for at least 3 months, so we've gotta be careful! Conceiving is NOT our problem, it's carrying.

Thanks!
