Post Spirno

fg gh hghg I just got diagnosed for PCOS and was put on Spirno too. I was curios about the major side effects. Does it make you gain weight? Will 25mg really make much of a difference? Should I ask for more? Is there a chat room to this site?

Hello

I have Spiro (Spironolactone) for my excess hair - is that the pill you mean?

I've been on it since May 2001, and have noticed less hair.

See a few posts up for "spiro or aldactone" for more replies.

I didn't notice any major side effects, although I notice a mood shift if I go off it. And I was able to take oof weight easier when I Was on it. (I'm off now because ttc)

I don't about the dosage. Too much can cause your blood pressure to drop so maybe your doctor is easing you into it? Also it takes time. Give it a month or 2 to really start helping.

The only side effects I;ve had are loss of excess facial and body hair

BTW 25 mg seems a little low to have any effect on your testosterone levels. A low dose like that is sometimes given for high blood pressure. Aks your doctor about it. Usually the initial dose is between 100-200 mg per day. (I started on 200 mg for about a year, then on 100 mg maintenance)

I've been on it five months and the worst side effect for me was having AF so much. It was a yucky brown never go away kind....but....I think (hope!) that this is getting more back to normal. I never used to get AF on my own without provera before so maybe this is a good thing, getting my body to start doing it. I have noticed only recently that my skin is softer and I think the hair is growing slower. I feel thinner and have lost maybe five pounds (I'm a thin cyster though anyway) and I haven't noticed my breasts increase in size like some have said. I do occasionally get light headed if I stand up too fast, but it's not a major problem. I've never passed out or anything. Heck, I even went sky diving falling at over 100mph and didn't faint so it's not a big deal. I take 200 mg a day.
