I have been on the spior, metformin cmbo for over two years. In the last few months the spiro has been making me incredibly sick with nausea and vomitting. My doctor took me off spiro and put me on flutamide which I did not like at all, and told me to try taking the spiro again. I was fine on it for a few weeks and now the nausea and vomitting has started again.
I do not know what to do. I have gone off the sprio again for a few days, but I am still getting sick.
Has anyone had this kind of experience with spiro, and what did your docotr do about it?
I have never had a very high tolerance to any kind of meds, but this is just crazy! I never have "got used to" the met like I was supposed to. I have just started back on the met xr about a month and a half ago. I am only up to 1000mg and still having major problems, but it's the spiro that my doctor put me one that is really giving me problems! I am having severe stomach cramping, vomiting and anxiety problems....Is this NORMAL???? I'm not sure I can take my "cure"? I had started myself on a natural medication cycle before returning to a traditional doctor. When she did my blood test it was actually very good for the first time in many years. My test. was down to 81, LH FSH were within normal ranges, the only real problem was the glucose and insulin. Maybe I really need to go back on the natural meds and dicipline myself to really following a diet and exercise program. I know I can't take much more of being sick all the time!

Like you, I as well have had a difficult time finding meds that don't make me sick. When I started the spiro two years ago, I was fine on it. it has just been something that has happened in the past few months, and it isn't all the time. But like you every night I get awful stomach cramps, and also I did experience anxiety and some depression a few months ago, but mine was more due to I knew something wasn't right in me and I didn't know what it was. I was getting frequent panic attacks and a constant racing heart and the sweats. Come to find out that there was something abnormal going on with my heart.
There is another medication out there instead of the spiro, I think it is called avandia, and my doctor did put me on it for a trial. Also another thing I have found with the spiro is if you go off it for a few days, at least for me it kind of resets, and I don't get sick for a few weeks.
