Default Spiro?

I read a few posts which mentioned taking dianette and spiro. What is Spiro? can u get it in the UK?
Someone mentioned that they took it as the effects of dianette had levelled off. I am also finding that dianette is not as effective as it used to be. I have now missed 2 periods, my skin is breaking out in spots an my libido packed its bags and left me for good!lol
Have any of you heard of it and has it helped? and if so was it hard to get from the dr?

spironolactone is used as an anti androgen, for excess hair, acne and hairloss. it's used in conjunction with the pill to prevent pregnancy - if pregnancy were to occur, the male fetus has a possiblity of being feminised, so pregnancy is to be avoided.

ask your doctor about prescribing it - failing that ask your endocrinologist.

not sure about side effects... it's worth doing a search on google for spironolactone.

best wishes

I have been taking 200mg Spirolonactone for the past 6 months, and it has helped in reducing the excess hair on my face, breasts, stomach, and other places on my body.

I asked my gyno to prescribe it for me after reading about it on here & it is easily found in any chemist in UK.

I haven't had any side effects with it, apart from feeling very tired the first couple of weeks, but that went away once my body had adjusted.

Let me know if you have any more questions re: Spiro and I'll be happy to help.

Yes prescription only ...

I just went to my gyno and asked him to prescribe it for me, and he agreed, basically because I had tried other types of medication without success (e.g. dianette, which although fairly effective, made me put on loads of weight).

Hello

I've been on Spiro for about 18 months now, and it has helped with my 'hair' a bit.
