Default Spiro and bp going up

My blood pressure has always been normal my Endo started me on Spiro last month and today at her office my blood pressure was 150/90 very high especially for me. So she is upping my spiro shouldn't the blood pressure be going the other way? It's actually been high every time I've gotten it taken there and my guess on that is that the cuff they use it to small so they use it on my forearm not my upper arm. I will be now taking 200 spiro a day is that an ok dose what is everyone on? Thanks for any help.

ok, well I just was in the hospital for one night due to having my gallbladder out. When they didn't want to get a bigger cuff they put the small one on my forearm and I was very concerned to see my BP running 140-150 over 70-80. One nurse finally went and got a bigger cuff and put it up on my bicep and it was only 111/64 or something. So, I really do think that putting it on the forearm makes it higher. Ask the nurse taking your BP to use a bigger cuff and put it up on your bicep to see if there is a difference. They REALLY should have done that before upping your meds, that should be a last resort. If they don't have a bigger cuff or give you a hard time about it most hospital emergency rooms will take your blood pressure for free if you tell them you are watching it for medical reasons and they will definately have a larger cuff there for you. You can then compare the results for yourself and have some ammunition to use in advocating for yourself.

Good luck, I hope you figure out the mystery soon!
