Default Spiro dosage

Hiya,

I've been on 100mg spiro and mercilon (low dose oestrogen pill) for about 9 months. My main symptoms of PCOS are the acne and scalp hair loss. I am quite slim and have a BMI of 19, so don't really have the weight problems. Since taking the spiro, I have noticed a vast improvement in my skin, I used to get about a spot or two a day, however my skin is now completely clear (although i still have some acne scars).

However, I've not really noticed a difference in hair growth. I don't have that much hair on my body, but I have a few thick ones in certain regions. I'm not really that bothered about hair on the body, as I tend to remove it, however it's the scalp hair loss that I'm most bothered about. I've noticed with the spiro that my scalp is less greasy than before, however, in the last 3/4 months, I've noticed a definite increase in shedding. It may just be seasonal, but do you think that it's do with the spiro at all?

Also, I'm not sure if 100mg is enough of a dose. My endo seems to think so, however, if it's not having an impact on the hair, is it worth increasing the dose? I've read on the internet that the ideal dose for hair loss is 200mg. I've never had any side-effects with the 100mg, not even in the beginning.

Would be interested in hearing your views!

Thanks!
